Sailor Moon Crystal Episode 18
Today is my nephew's first birthday party! I can't believe he's (almost) a year old already. It seems like he was just born yesterday!
There was also a new Crystal episode today. It's another great one!
- I love how Minako is so take charge and demands that they get some answers out of Chibi-Usa. Minako the awesome leader is one of my favorite parts of Crystal.
- We get to see Chibi-Usa's friend Momo, although I don't think she actually says anything. It's nice to see her, but it makes the decision not to include Unazuki in a couple of the previous episodes a little more head-scratching. What makes Momo more important than Unazuki?
- Chibi-Usa's VA did a good job when she freaked out upon seeing the earring Mamoru was holding.
- I'm still not used to Wiseman's high-pitched voice. It's definitely creepy, but I don't know... I prefer the deeper voice he had in the original.
- I always thought Calaveras' medium powers were really cool. They didn't use them in the original anime, so I'm glad to see Crystal kept them.
- Naru's so sweet to try to cheer Usagi up. Did she always have a blue bow in Crystal, though? I'm used to the green one she always wore in the original anime, but I like the blue. It goes better with her uniform.
- Good to see Kotono and Asanuma again, and seeing how Rei's and Makoto's absences are affecting them. Makes me feel a bit sorry for Ami, though, since nobody seems to miss her. It would have been nice to see Naru show some concern about her, at least, since they are classmates and she's Usagi's friend.
- Love the scene of Mamoru talking to the spirits of the Shitennou. I never thought of it like this before, but I guess that means Mamoru has medium-like powers, too, which is a nice parallel to Calaveras. (But makes the fact that he's angsting about not having any powers a little eye-rolling.)
- Cute new civilian outfits for Minako and Usagi. Usagi's, especially, is very reminiscent of the dress she wears in the manga during the "make-out/possible sex scene" that I'm thinking should happen next episode if I'm remembering correctly. Just missing the polka-dots.
- Rolling Heart Vibration is cool. I like how the metal heart connects to the metal association the planet Venus has in Japan.
- Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber is less visually interesting -- basically just a beam of light coming from his hand -- but Tuxedo Kamen looked cool using it.
- Hehe, I liked Venus's voice when she scolds Sailor Moon for being late.
Pluto is introduced next episode! Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait, can't wait, can't wait, can't wait...
