Fanfiction meme
Got this from December's LJ, through Masked Maiden's friends list.
No, not really. I'm just not all that competitive.
2.) A writer that inspired you?
Superkate's Galactic Sailors was the story that inspired me to start writing fanfiction, so she was definitely a big inspiration.
3.) Do you have a favorite reviewer?
Can't say that I really do.
4.) What fandoms do you read/write for?
Write: Sailor Moon (of course), Someday's Dreamers, Kaleido Star, Fire Emblem, Fruits Basket, Card Captor Sakura
Read: All of the above and Witch Hunter Robin, mostly, but I have read the occasional Firefly, Numb3rs, and Harry Potter fic, plus I try to read most of my boyfriend's stuff, even if I'm not that familiar with the canon.
5.) Considering hits and reviews and feedback, what is your greatest work? And is your favorite work different from your greatest?
Well, the story (amazingly) with the most reviews is Sands of Time (Destiny Arrives), but I think that Spirit of Fire is probably overall my most popular work. My personal favorites, however, are Hawk's Eye View and Machiavelli's Folly.
6.) What is your favorite fanfiction of all time?
It's a tie between the Judge's Sailor Moon: Millennials and Lord Chaos' Tales of the Dreamworld.
7.) Who is your favorite fanfiction writer?
Oh, I couldn't just pick one: Lord Chaos, I Abibde, Superkate, Dejana Talis, Sokudo Ningyou, Kihin Ranno, Sophia Prester, Starsea, blue, Masked Maiden, Ysabet (Fruits Basket)... I think that's a fairly comprehensive list.
8.) Ever read a fic you mourn for never being finished?
Definitely. Most notably Sailor Moon: Millennials, Superkate's Unbreakable, and L-chan's CCS fics.
9.) Ever experience sadness for finishing a long story?
No, not really.
10.) A fic writer you have seen improve over time?
Nobody immediately comes to mind.
11.) Do you think your writing has improved over time, or from early story to later story?
Oh, definitely. My newer stuff is tons better than the Generations series (Sands of Time (Destiny Arrives), Sweet Dreams, and Star-Crossed Lovers) I wrote when I first started out.
12.) Do you think you'll ever stop writing fanfiction, personally?
Nope. I just love it too much.
13.) Worse fic you have ever read?
Well, I'm not sure if it is the absolute worst I've ever read, but the one that's coming to mind is MG's Games of Seduction, the story whose horribleness (is that even a word?) partially inspired Against the Rules.
14.) Storylines you are tired of seeing?
OSAUs (Original Story Alternate Universes)
15.) Storylines you might like to see?
Stories about the senshi's families, more good Helios/Chibi-Usa and Mamoru/Setsuna fics
16.) Have you ever come across a respectable OC?
Absolutely. Too many to name, but just look at my list of favorite authors and you're bound to find them.
17.) When you review, do you admit to sometimes flaming?
I rarely review, but I never flame. That's just stupid.
18.) Any story plans tucked away for the future?
Oh, definitely. I'm working on a Kaleido Star multi-part at the moment, but I have recently been thinking about going back to my Helios/Chibi-Usa/Perle love triangle fic Only Human. I also have an idea for a Sailor Moon/Witch Hunter Robin crossover, and, despite my best attempts otherwise, I can't seem to get rid of the idea of a Sailor Moon/Grey's Anatomy crossover that my boyfriend put in my head a couple of days ago.
19.) Fantasy or anime?
Anime.
20.) Good friends among writers/readers?
I Abibde/Samuraiter, of course. ^_^ We are dating, after all. Plus, everybody I've ever beta-d for. I don't want to list them, since I'm afraid I'll forget somebody, but you know who you are. (Chances are, if you follow this LJ, you are probably one of them.)
21.) Do you ever use poetry, lyrics, or quotes to emphasize your story?
No.
22.) An author you miss who has stopped writing or moved on to other things?
Superkate. *sniffles* But at least she still writes the occasional ficlet for sm_monthly.
23.) Ever met anyone from your fandom circles?
Offline? Just I Abibde/Samuraiter.
24.) Related to previous question, is there anyone you'd like to meet someday?
Refer to question 7.
25.) Where/how do most of your ideas/plots/storylines come to you?
Oh, a variety of places.
26.) Ever written a self-insert?
No. (Even though I took the name Yumeko from one of my original characters, she's really nothing like me. I just liked the name.)
27.) Off the top of your head, a fic or author with great characterization?
Sophia Prester
28.) Ever written or thought about writing a lemon?
Thought about it. Even wrote a lemon scene for Against the Rules, which I posted here but not in the actual story. But I don't think I would ever be able to post one to the general public.
29.) Ever been introduced to a whole new fandom following the whims of a favorite author?
Occasionally. The one that stands out in my mind is Castlevania, which my boyfriend introduced me to through one of his fics.
30.) Do you like to write songfics?
Never tried, although I keep meaning to write one to the Charlotte Church/Billy Gilman duet Dream a Dream.
31.) How do you feel about alternate universes?
They're fine as long as they have some basis in canon, even if it's just characterization. It bugs me, though, when people try to pass off original stories as fanfiction by using canon names with no regard to their canon characterization (otherwise known as OSAUs).
32.) Got a favorite alternate universe?
Starsea's Labyrinth of Stones and Roses and Superkate's A Simple Thing are probably my favorites.
33.) Do you believe you will ever write professionally?
I'd certainly like to think that, but I don't know...
34.) Ever stay up to insane hours read/writing fanfiction?
Not anymore.
no subject
If you meet Lord Chaos, though, I might have to ask you to sneak a bomb into his luggage.
