Kerry's thread at .moon about giving away some of her story ideas gave me the inspiration to make this post -- which I hope to make a point of updating regularly -- listing all the story ideas I've had (and can remember). Unlike Kerry's thread, this really isn't about giving away fic ideas, but if something does catch your eye and it's marked as abandoned/unmarked, then feel free to take. Just leave me a note so I can read it when it's finished. ^_^ (Credit is nice, but not really necessary for most of these ideas, since they're so generic in the first place. You can probably even take an idea I'm actually working on and come up with a completely different plot than mine if you really want.)

Current fandoms represented:

Sailor Moon - 18 stories, plus four crossovers
Kaleido Star - 2 stories, plus a crossover
Fruits Basket - 2 stories
Death Note - 2 stories
Witch Hunter Robin - Crossover
Card Captor Sakura - Crossover
Someday's Dreamers - 1 story
Princess Nine - 1 story
School Rumble - 1 story
Harry Potter - 1 story
Grey's Anatomy - Crossover
Ghost Whisperer - Crossover

Key:

Bold - Current Work-in-Progress
Italics - Back-burnered, may come back to someday.
Underline - Would like to write eventually, although there's no guarantee I will.
Striked-out - Worked on some, decided to abandon. Slight possibility I may come back to it, but not likely. Up for grabs.
Normal - Random ideas I have no current plans to write, but you never know... Also up for grabs.

If you leave a comment on this post, I will give you five subjects with which I associate you. You may then take those five subjects, post this meme in your LJ, and elaborate on what you have posted.

From

[personal profile] samuraiter

Fruits Basket - One of my all-time favorite anime/manga. It's reallyi ncredible how Takaya Natsuki was able to create such a large cast, and yet she managed to give most of them heaps of character development. (Some were a little left out in the cold, like Ritsu, but that's just being picky.) It was also great to have a romantic story in which you honestly didn't know who the heroine would pick until halfway in, which made me that much happier when they guy I prefered won Tohru's heart. (Especially since for a while, I really thought the story was leading toward the other.) I can't believe it's almost over (in the English translation)! *sniffles*

Grey's Anatomy - It's funny, because everybody who knows me well knows that I can't stand anything gross involving blood and guts and all that kind of stuff. It's gotten to the point that my parents and sister will warn me before they start talking about things like that, so I can stick my fingers in my ears and sing nonsense to myself until it's all over. (I'm so mature.) Yet, I love this show. Granted, I do usually cover my eyes during the surgeries, but still... It's just great fun. (And Patrick Dempsey is very easy on the eyes, even if his character is kind of a jerk.)

Sailor Moon - My gateway drug into the world of anime and manga. Technically not my first exposure to anime -- that honor belongs to an anime version of "The Little Mermaid" that I didn't realize was anime until after I watched SM -- but I mostly consider it as much. And I still love it as much as I did all those those years ago when I first saw the dub on TV. It's a love affair that will never, never end, even if it's no longer my favorite anime/manga anymore. After all, it's the fandom that first got me into fanfiction. ^_^

Sims - Ah, my obsession of obsessions of the moment, even when I'm not allowing myself to play. It's really become an addiction, guys. -_- It's so crazy. I mean, I was known to get a little obsessed with Sims 1 back in the day (until my game started getting buggy and it became annoying to play), but with Sims 2, it's almost like a twenty-four hour thing. If I'm not doing something Sims related, then you can be pretty sure I'm at least thinking of it. *laughs* Totally sucks for my writing, though. I wish I could get back into being this involved in fanfiction.

Someday's Dreamers - So, so sad that this little slice of life/magical girl -- two of my favorite genres -- gem never really caught on here in the States. Even sadder that it's very unlikely that the second anime series and third manga series will ever be licensed in English. (I can't even find scanlations of the manga past the first couple of chapters.) People just don't know what they're missing, unfortunately. :(

I can't believe my mother did that.

She actually asked one of her nurses if they had their own version of McDreamy.

*rolls eyes*

She's definitely feeling better.

And I'm definitely her daughter, because I was wondering the same thing. >.< I just didn't have the guts to actually ask.

(Before anybody asks, yes, the nurse admitted there was one really hot doctor all the nurses drooled over, but she didn't name any names. Darn! I think I might know who she was referring to, though -- one of the doctors who was working in the emergency room the day we came in. Well, at least I thought he was McDreamy material. *drools* Too bad I haven't seen him since. :()

P.S. I feel terrible for thinking this, but a (very) small part of me is glad that Mom's staying in the hospital for a week because it means I can watch Skate America this weekend on the television in her room. (It's on NBC, which we can't get a picture on at home.) I am a horrible daughter. >.< Somebody smack me.

But...skating!

Considering my last entry, I just had to do this meme.

Name five crossovers you'd love to read or write one of these days, no matter how cracked-out or improbable.

1. Sailor Moon/Grey's Anatomy - I think it would be really interesting if either Ami or Mamoru ended up interning at Seattle Grace, and the hospital ended up having to deal with the casualties of a youma attack, having no idea what was going on.

2. Card Captor Sakura/Ghost Whisperer - Melinda sees ghosts, Touya sees ghosts... It's a no-brainer. (See previous entry)

3. Sailor Moon/Witch Hunter Robin - I really do want to write this eventually. My idea has Robin, whose craft is fire, being related to Rei, a fact they discover when the STNJ starts investigating the Sailor Senshi, who they think are witches.

4. Someday's Dreamers/Harry Potter - A lot of HP crossovers from what I hear tend to be with series that don't really fit in with it, but Someday's Dreamers really would be a plausible HP crossover partner, IMO. Both series are about magical people learning how to use their powers, so I think they would complement each other well if done correctly.

5. Absolute Boyfriend/Chobits/Hand Maid May - *laughs* Yeah, I just want to see how somebody would handle a crossover with these three series about robots who look like people. I bet it would be a lot of fun. ^_^

You know, a Card Captor Sakura/Ghost Whisperer crossover would be so plausible, what with Touya being able to see ghosts and all. All you'd have to do is figure out a reason for Touya to visit America or for Melinda to come to Tomoeda, which really wouldn't be too hard considering that Melinda owns an antique shop. She could have somehow ended up with something belonging to Clow Reed and decide to do a little research...

Heh, yeah. I don't know where I come up with these strange anime/live action crossover ideas. First it was a Sailor Moon/Grey's Anatomy crossover, and now this CCS/GW plot bunny is hopping around in my head, although I doubt I'll ever get around to writing it. Still, I think it really could work.

Anyway, as you can probably guess, my CCS manga came in yesterday. Yay! ^_^ Well, at least some of it. About half the volumes are on backorder, but I did get the first four of the first series and two, three, and four of Master of the Clow. I've read the first three so far, and I'm very much enjoying it, although I think I like anime!Sakura more than manga!Sakura. The anime did a good job of making her less of a stereotypical shoujo heroine. For example, manga!Sakura seems to be a habitual oversleeper, while anime!Sakura generally wakes up in time to at least eat her breakfast at the table, rather than scarfing it down on her way out like manga!Sakura always does. She sometimes oversleeps, of course, but nowhere as much as manga!Sakura. Also, manga!Sakura is even more Yukito-crazed than anime!Sakura, to the point that it's kind of annoying rather than cute. Oh, well. The manga is still very good (if I ignore the creepy scene where Terada-sensei gives Rika an engagement ring).

I also think I may have an idea for my Nanowrimo novel this year. It's still a bit vague at the moment, but I'm thinking of calling it A Life Less Ordinary, and it's about a teenage girl named Leah who is bored of her life in a small, New England(?) town until she meets a dying boy who teaches her to the value the life she has. Or something like that. Like I said, it's still in the planning stages at the moment, but I think it'll turn out all right. Anything would be better than last year's Mothers of the Bride.

So, I decided it was about time to go beyond the horizon of anime fanfics into the TV Show section at FF.net. I didn't have much luck in the Grey's Anatomy section, unforunately, but I did find a few stories in the Firefly and Numb3rs sections. If you're a fan of either show, I recommend these fics. ^_^ (Summaries are mine; beware of spoilers.)

Oh, and if anybody has any other recommendations, I'm all ears, especially for multi-parts. Most of the above were one-shots, but I would love to find some longer fics. ^_^

Yanked from [livejournal.com profile] amazonqueenkate

You have seven days of dream-dates (all of which, of course, end in mind-blowing sex, hence the title of the game, if, of course, you're into that. You can also just cuddle with your date, if you'd rather). You are allowed to choose one celebrity date for each night of the week and one alternate for each night, in case your first choice dream date is, say, arrested or is away on location. The remainder of the rules are as follows:

1) The definition of "celebrity" varies according to the group with whom you're playing. Basically, everyone in the group needs to be able to pick your choices out of a police line-up.

2) No time-traveling. I'd like to date Paul Newman, circa Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, but that's against the rules. Everyone you date, you date right now.

3) It doesn't matter if you and your friends all have George Clooney as your Saturday night. This is bound to happen and it's fair within the rules of the game: having to cross check your schedule with your friends will add a level of difficulty to this game that you don't need. It's hard enough to decide whether So and So is a Tuesday or a Wednesday without having to make an Excel spreadsheet to make sure you're not stepping on your officemate's toes. You'll see.

4) You can't use, say, "the cast of Band of Brothers" as one night. One man or woman per night. Nice try, though.

Drumroll, please... )

Yeah, my birthday isn't until the second, but my parents won't be home until after seven that day, so Mom thought we might as well do the cake thing tonight. She offered to let me have my present (the Princess Nine boxset) as well, but I wanted to save something for Wednesday. Besides, I know if I had gotten it tonight, I would totally not work on my my Someday's Dreamers fic that I want to get done by my birthday.

The cake had to be the chocolatiest (yeah, that's not a word...) cake I ever had in my life -- Triple Chocolate Fudge with Triple Chocolate Fudge Chip frosting. Yum. I love not having my sister around to tell me I can't have a chocolate/chocolate cake. ^_^ I guess you could say this cake made up in spades for all the times I had to have a vanilla/chocolate, chocolate/vanilla, or vanilla/vanilla cake because Laura didn't really care for chocolate cake, even though she usually only ate one piece anyway.

I also managed to blow out all my candles for the second year in a row! Twenty-two this year -- I'm quite proud of myself. ^_^ Of course, they were all rather close together, but who cares? I still get my wish. (And no, I'm not telling or else it won't come true. :P)

In other news, tonight's Grey's Anatomy was just too sad, and not just because Derek chose... Well, I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it. I will say, however, that I don't think I've cried so much over a TV show for a long time.

*sniffles*

Oh, yeah, this show is becoming one of my faves...

*screams*

Come on, guys! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?

First off, in response to my last post, in the end I decided I would still do my flipping, except in reverse. I decided to mostly watch the game and flip to my shows during the commercials so that I would at least get the basic idea of what the episodes were about.

Was that ultimately a good decision? I'm not sure. I thought it was through the first six innings. Pettitte was pitching well, and we were up four to two. Then they went to the bullpen in the seventh inning. Now, we have an awesome bullpen, widely regarded as one of the best in the National League, but Wheeler and Qualls were just not on their game today. Wheeler let the Sox load the bases, then when Qualls went up against Konerko, he hit a grand slam, giving the Sox a two-run lead. After that, I figured the game was a loss, so I flipped over to watch the end of Grey's Anatomy. When that was over, I went back to the game to await the inevitable.

But wait! It turned out the game wasn't as over as I thought. In the ninth, against Sox closer Jenks, we actually managed to get hits! In fact, thanks to Jose Vizcaino, who came up as a pitch hitter, and his two-run double, we managed to tie the game! I was esctatic, screaming "Yes, yes, yes!" at the top of my lungs. It wasn't a lead, but it gave us a good chance of going into extra innings if we could keep the Sox from scoring in the bottom of the inning.

Unfortunately, the Astros decided to go with our closer Brad "Lights-Out" Lidge to pitch in the ninth inning. No offense to Lidge, who was the closer for the National League in the All-Star game, but he has not been doing well lately. In Game 5 of the NLCS, he gave up the winning home run to Pujols, and again, he gave off another home run in the ninth, this time to Podsednik.

No extra innings. We lost 6-7.

*sigh*

Well, anyway, I think next Tuesday's game will be ours. Oswalt will be the starting pitcher, and for some reason, I never really worry when he pitches. Not to mention that I think it will do the Astros good to get out of that horrible Chicago weather. They are just not used to playing in such cold temperatures. That's winter for us.

I just worry that the Sox will take advantage of how easy it is to hit a home run in Minute Maid Park...

Game 2 starts tonight at 7:00.

Problem? So do my usual Sunday shows: Charmed, Desperate Housewives, and Grey's Anatomy.

This normally wouldn't be a problem, because I would just do what I usually do when there's a game on the same night as one of my shows. I would go ahead and watch my shows (unless it's a sitcom, which usually shows a lot of repeats), flipping to the game during commericials and occasionally the show itself to check out the score.

However, this is the first time since I started watching during the NLDS that the game conflicts with not just one or even two, but three of my shows. If I decide to flip, I'm going to miss most of the game! Plus, this is the World Series; it's a very important game and I really do want to watch it.

So what should I do?

I guess maybe I could miss one of the shows and hope that I'll be able to catch a repeat later so that I'll get to see a little bit more of the game, but then I have to decide which one to skip. My least favorite out of the three is probably Charmed, but that also happens to be my mom's favorite and she'll probably want to watch it. Also, that means I would only get to see the beginning innings, which usually aren't the most exciting. Things usually don't get interesting until around the fifth inning.

Desperate Housewives? I don't really like missing that, because if you do, you might miss clues as to what happens later on in the season. I know I missed a couple last season and I already missed the season premiere due to Rita, so I don't want to repeat that mistake.

As for Grey's Anatomy, that's probably my best bet for the skipped show as it'll allow me to watch the later innings, but I don't know... It's really becoming one of my favorites. Besides, I think Derek is supposed to be choosing between Meredith and Addison tonight.

*sigh*

Must ponder this.

In other sports news, I just finished watching the ladies' short and long programs at Skate America. I remember seeing Alissa Cziesny, the silver medalist, skate last weekend at the Campbell's competition, but I didn't realize until today when she skated really well in the free skate that she's actually a very beautiful skater with top-notch spins and a gorgeous style. If she can keep her jumps consistent, she might give Kimmie Meissner a run for the third spot on the Olympic team.

Of course, that is if Michelle Kwan and Sasha Cohen are even healthy enough to compete by then. Both were scheduled to compete at Skate America, and both withdrew because of hip injuries. Not good.

Next weekend will be the pairs', but I really wish I had cable so I could watch the dance and men's competition over on ESPN. They talked a little about the men's short programs after the ladies' finished and it sounds like it's going to be an awesome competition. Not to mention, France's Brian Joubert is skating. *pouts* I wanna see it...

Nothing really much to report today, so...

List 10 shows and let your friends guess who your favorite character is in each. When someone gets one right, cross it off the list and explain why you love that character!

EDIT: I'm just going to go ahead and post the answers, since nobody else has any guesses.

1) Everwood - Ephram Brown
2) Desperate Housewives
Bree Van De Camp, as guessed by [livejournal.com profile] samuraiter. You know, I wasn't really expecting to like her character that much even though I was a big fan of the actress from her guest role on Everwood. A conservative, Republican, Martha Stewart-clone perfectionist? Not exactly the type of character I normally like, but Marcia Cross does an amazing job playing her. Plus, hands down, she gets all the best lines. I will never forget her "George, do you have an erection?!" line when they went miniature golfing. That was just priceless. Absolutely priceless.
3) Grey's Anatomy
George O'Malley, as guessed by [livejournal.com profile] dark_branwen. I tend to like underdogs, and George definitely qualifies.
4) Charmed - Prue Halliwell (Phoebe, if going by characters still on the show)
5) 7th Heaven - Matt Camden
6) Gilmore Girls - Lorelai Gilmore
7) Smallville - Chloe Sullivan
8) Numb3rs
Charlie Eppes, as guessed by [livejournal.com profile] amazonqueenkate. (As if that was so hard to guess. *laughs*) Smart and adorable? Always a winning combination. Not to mention David Krumholtz... *drools*
9) Friends
Chandler Bing, as guessed by [livejournal.com profile] samuraiter. Gotta love guys with a sense of humor.
10) Sex and the City
Miranda Hobbes, as guessed by [livejournal.com profile] dark_branwen. As I mentioned in my reply to Samuraiter, I've only recently started watching the show, but Miranda quickly became my favorite for her cynical views on love and romance.
