Chapter 19 of Melting Ice has been posted at the usual places. I've also begun posting Against The Rules over at AO3. For some reason, I completely forgot about it when I posted the rest of my stories there!
Another double dose of meme questions:
23. Best manga/anime villain
He may be the protagonist of his series, but I gotta say the best manga and anime villain in my opinion is Light Yagami from Death Note. He utterly fascinates me with his belief that he is on the side of justice, despite the fact that he becomes one of the most prolific serial killers in history. That dichotomy within him makes him an interesting character to observe and puts him a cut above most other villains, who tend to be evil just because. Plus, he's definitely smarter than the majority of anime/manga villains out there!
24. The best long manga/anime series
Manga - Easy, a tie between Fruits Basket and NANA. (Criteria: Over twenty volumes.)
Anime - Kaleido Star, of course! Honorable mentions go to Super GALS, Card Captor Sakura, Fushigi Yuugi, Sailor Moon, Fullmetal Alchemist (both series), and Code Geass. (Criteria: Over fifty episodes.)
Man, lately I only seem to remember to update this thing whenever I have a new writing update to announce! (Gotta work on that.)
Anyway, Chapter Five of No Longer Alone has been posted at the usual places. Just two more chapters after this, then I'll probably start posting Politically Incorrect with the proper, real ending that I wasn't able to complete before the deadline. I can't decide if I should post it in chapters or as a one-shot, though. Thirteen thousand words is long, but it isn't that long; I have three longer one-shots posted. Thoughts from those who have already read what I posted in this journal? Do you think it would work best as a one-shot?
Onto today's question!
15. The saddest scene
I don't like these questions that make you pick the -est of something; they're too hard! But the two that immediately came to mind for me were both Sailor Moon scenes. From the anime, the death of Neptune and Uranus near the end of Sailor Stars (with Nephrite's death coming in at a really close second), and from the manga, Pluto's death scene during the Black Moon arc.
There are some others I could mention, but I don't think I will because they would probably be considered major spoilers for various series. (I don't mind talking about those SM scenes, since most of you reading this are already familiar with the series, and they're hardly considered spoilers any more, anyway.) I will mention, however, that one of them involves a character featured in the icon I'm using for this entry. If you're a Fushigi Yugi fan, you know exactly what scene I'm talking about. *sobs*
For anime, I'm going to say Pretear, because it's the strength of its tear-jerking finale that I consider it one of my all-time faves. I'm pretty much a sobbing mess whenever I finish watching it. Sobbing. Mess.
Manga... Well, manga doesn't tend to make me cry nearly as much as anime does, but I want to mention Rasetsu, which is a title that isn't very popular but I love. It has one of my favorite manga endings -- very bittersweet, and, oh, so cry-worthy.
Oh, man, I've been dreading this question! My gut is telling me to say the last three episodes of Sailor Moon, but that's definitely more than a scene! (Still epic, though!) Hmm, Gurren Lagann has a pretty amazing battles, and so does Evangelion... Oh, the start of Instrumentality in the End of Evangelion movie, with the giant Rei! You really can't get more epic than the end of the world, can you? Yeah, let's go with that. I'm not sure if it's really the most epic scene I've ever seen, but I think it's at least one of the top five.
How did I get sucked into watching the Summer Olympics? I was only going to watch the opening ceremony. I don't care about the summer events; I prefer the winter events. Well, okay, there was a brief time when I was younger when I had a mild interest in gymnastics, but it didn't stick for very long. I haven't watched a competition in years. Yet here I am, glued to the TV set every night to watch gymnastics and swimming! I'm blaming my brother-in-law. :P When we visited last weekend, practically all we did was watch the Olympics since my sister was so busy with her schoolwork.
Oh, well.
I'll get back to the 30 Day meme tomorrow, but for today, I'm taking a break to do another meme that I snagged from ssamuraiter
As for manga... Well, there's a lot of manga I would recommend; it's hard just to pick one. It would be easy to say either Fruits Basket or NANA, since they're my favorites, but FB is sadly out of print now and NANA is on indefinite hiatus. So I'm going to go with Ceres: Celestial Legend. It has beautiful artwork, a great combination of drama, humor, and romance, and it's an interesting take on the legend of the tennyo.
