It's been a while since I've done a [livejournal.com profile] fannish5!

5 minor or one-off characters that you wish could have gotten more face time. (Or would show up again)

1. Tellu, Viluy, Cyprine/Ptitrol (or however the heck you spell her name) from Sailor Moon - I always hated how Eudial and Mimete of the Witches 5 both got multiple episode arcs, but the rest of the group just got one or two episodes to shine. Seriously, why couldn't all of them get an equal amount of screentime? The last three could have been just as interesting as Eudial and Mimete with the right development.

2. Dio from Kaleido Stage - He does show up a couple of times throughout the series, but he never really does anything, which I think is a shame. He's always rather intrigued me for some reason. (Probably because he's hot. I can be shallow like that sometimes. *laughs*)

3. Ritsu from Fruits Basket - Okay, to be honest, I am NOT a Ritsu fan at all. After Akito, he's pretty much my least favorite FB character. Still, I always felt a bit sorry for him, since Natsuki Takaya pretty much forgot he existed after his introductory arc. I wouldn't have wanted him around all the time -- he's definitely best taken in small doses -- but it might have been nice for him to show up at least every once in a while.

4. Naoki from NANA - Ah, poor goofy, happy-go-lucky, drama-free Naoki, relegated to being just the comic relief. Nothing wrong with that, but it would be nice if he got seriously involved with a least one storyline. He barely even interacts with his bandmates!

5. Sylphiel from Slayers - Love Sylphiel, but hate how she never stays around for an entire season. :(

In other news, Chapter 4 of Blood On His Hands is up at FF.net and .moon.

It's been a while since I did one of these...

Name the 5 creepiest episodes/scenes/chapters etc. from your fandoms.

1. "The Boodstained Labyrinth" case from Ghost Hunt - Well, most of the cases on GH are pretty creepy, but this one actually managed to scare me a little. The story was partially inspired by legends of real-life Hungarian serial killer Countess Elizabeth Bathory, who allegedly killed hundreds of young girls just so that she could bathe in their blood and retain her youthful looks. Yeah, a story based on that can't not be creepy.
2. Fullmetal Alchemist - When you realize that Shou Tucker turned his young daughter Nina and her dog Alexander into a Chimera... It's just a horrifying, blood-chilling moment. To think that somebody would do something like that to their own child...
3. xxxHolic - Like GH, xxxHolic is a little bit creepy all the way through, but the two moments that particularly stand out to me are the ending to the Monkey's Paw story and the scene where Watanaki pulls the hand of a murdered child's skeleton out from underneath a hydragea bush.
4. Le Chevalier D'eon - Pretty much any scene where Queen Marie talks to that skull she carries around -- and the skull answers back -- is pretty creepy.
5. Gilgamesh - Another very disturbing series... I don't want to spoil anything, but the very end. If you've seen it, you know what I mean.

Honorable mention: You know the part in the second opening credits to Death Note, where there are countless faces of Light, all laughing maniacally? Creeps me out every time I watch it. Without fail.

And here's this week's [livejournal.com profile] fannish5  question:

Name five kickass female characters.

Balsa from Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit
Ran Kotobuki from Super GALS
Haruka Shitow from RahXephon
Haruka Tenou from Sailor Moon
Kaname Chidori from Full Metal Panic

heavenly_pearl: (Default)

Heh, I was just saying I needed to post in here more often, then I pretty much disappear for half the month... That's because I'm suffering from Toothache from Hell Part II, going on for about two weeks come tomorrow. I really need to go to the dentist, but I don't have dental insurance and can't afford to pay out of pocket, so I have to make do with Mom's pain pills, Orajel, and ice water to dull the pain. Needless to say, I'm miserable. I've probably only slept for about fifteen hours total since it started, and it's almost impossible to concentrate on anything creative. (That's why there's no manga review this week.) I don't know how much longer I can last, living like this... I hate this!

But on a lighter note, here's this week's [livejournal.com profile] fannish5

:Name the 5 most interesting fictional journeys.

(By "journey", I'm going with the most common definition of traveling from place to place, rather than the more metaphorical emotional journey.)

1. Firefly - It's always entertaining to see what kind of world the crew ends up next and what kind of adventures they'll have.
2. Ayashi no Ceres - I love how much research Watase put into this story. Though she takes some creative license, all the places Aya visits on her search for the hagoromo are connected with real-life ten'nyo legends, whic h I thought was pretty cool.
3. Le Chevalier D'eon - D'eon and his group travel as spies all over Europe, just as the historical D'eon did, to find clues about the mysterious murder of his beloved (fictional) sister, and it is awesome.
4. Fushigi Yugi (including Genbu Kaiden) -- I never throught I would like adventure stories until I read FY. It has a little of everything, and the world of the book is just wonderfully detailed and realized.
5. Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle - Yeah, things get a little -- okay, a lot -- confusing in the second half, but a lot of the worlds Syaoran and his group visited duing their search for Sakura's feathers were a lot of fun. I especially liked the countries of Oto, Jade, and Piffle World.

heavenly_pearl: (Default)

It's been a while since I did a [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 and I liked this week's prompt, so here we go:

Name your five favorite foreign-language films/series.

Well, that's easy with all the anime I watch. Just need to list my top five series:

Kaleido Star
Super GALS
Death Note
Fruits Basket

Princess Nine

But excluding animated fare, the list looks more like this:

La vita e bella (Life Is Beautiful)
NANA (both movies)
Death Note (both the main movies, have no real interest in seeing the third)
Volver (one of Penelope Cruz's Spanish films)
Last Quarter (based on the Ai Yazawa manga that needs to be licensed, like, right now)

In other news, it looks like my Helios origination fic Metamorphosis is officially a go. I finished the first scene yesterday, and if anybody's interested, here's a sneak peek.

(A note before reading: Yes, there's a reason why I'm using the spelling "Elios" over my usual preference for "Helios". He's not going to become Helios until later in the story. It's part of the "metamorphosis". ^_^ Also, in this scene you meet his childhood friend (and first love) Rhode, whose name comes from the sea nymph wife of the mythological god Helios. Her name happens to be the root of the words "rose" and "rhododendron" as well, making for some nice symbolism in this scene.)

In which little Elios receives his first kiss and is too cute for words )

Edit: Huh, it looks like I mistakenly disabled comments. Don't know how that happened. Oh, well, it has been fixed.

Name five characters whose fashion sense you admire.

1. Ran Kotobuki (SuperGALS)
2. Yuuko (xxxHolic)
3. Rin Sohma (Fruits Basket)
4. Ora (Clover)
5. Nana and Hachi (NANA) - Yeah, I'm cheating. :P But they both have awesome fashion sense.

heavenly_pearl: (Default)

I had to do this [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 :

Five Olympics sports you would like to see characters from your fandom(s) participate in.

Going to go with all Sailor Moon characters, since it's really easy to choose.

1. Makoto Kino - Figure skating, of course! (Love, love, love that episode!) Although there's really a lot of events she would probably do well in...
2. Rei Hino - Two picks for her: archery and women's downhill skiing. (based on the ski episode)
3. Ami Mizuno and Michiru Kaioh - Obviously, the swimming events.
4. Minako Aino - Two picks for her, too: gymnastics and beach volleyball.
5. Haruka Tenoh - Running events, duh. Though, like Makoto, I could see her competing in a lot of different events
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Name the five most annoying characters ever.

1. Umbridge from Harry Potter
2. Ren Mihashi from Big Wind-up
3. Sae from Peach Girl
4. An/Natsumi from Sailor Moon
5. Alice from Tweeny Witches

In other news, still plugging away at my Nano novel. I'm currently at about 34,000 words, which is just a little bit behind where I wanted to be at this point. My goal for the week is 37,500, so it looks like I'll have to do some writing this weekend to catch up, especially with Thanksgiving next week. (Why did they have to pick November of all months to hold it; wouldn't one of the summer months make more sense, considering that many Nano-ers are still in school?) Ugh. And Mama just decided to play hooky from work because one of her co-workers annoyed her yesterday. -_- I hate having to write when people are home!

To be honest, I'm really tempted to just call it quits. (It's not like I can even call myself a winner if I get to 50K, since 10K of it is made up of scenes from last year's draft.) The beginning went well, but I seriously have no idea where this story is ultimately going. I'm not enjoying it any more. Still, with only 16,000 left and ten days to write it in, I might as well stick it out to the very end, right?
heavenly_pearl: (Default)

Name 5 characters whose wardrobe you would love to have.

Assuming I had the body to pull their wardrobes off...

1. Ran Kotobuki from SuperGALS
2. Rin Sohma from Fruits Basket
3. Yukari Hasekawa from Paradise Kiss/Nana O. and Nana K. from NANA (I like both of their styles pretty equally)/heck, pretty much any outfit worn by any female Ai Yazawa character ever *laughs*
4. Rachel Benning from Red Garden
5. Ayu Tateishi from Ultramaniac Aya Mikage from Ayashi no Ceres (Changed my mind)

Now, back to Nano-ing!
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
I love that this fannish5 question came up today because I just finished watching Death Note last night, an anime chock full of geniuses, evil or otherwise. (Even if only one of them made the cut for this list.) Appropriate, ne?

Name your five favorite geniuses - evil or otherwise - from any fandom.

1. Charlie Eppes (Numb3rs)
2. Yagami Light (Death Note)
3. Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)
4. Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist)
5. Otori Kyoya (Ouran High School Host Club)

FYI: I completely fail as a fangirl. -_- I totally forgot about Charlie the first time I made this list, since I was focusing mainly on anime. How could I possibly forget the awesomeness and beauty that is Charlie Eppes/David Krumholtz?! I'm not worthy! (In case you're wondering, the character that got cut was George from Paradise Kiss, who I consider an artistic genius.)

Now for my thoughts on Death Note....dgja;ghjafhjalfghj!!!!!

I totally and completely loved it. Definitely up there among my all-time favorite anime, although I had a bit of trouble deciding exactly where to rank it. I wanted to put it either above Super GALS, which is currently my second favorite, or below Fruits Basket, which was my third favorite, so I compromised and put it the middle of those those to for now, making it my new third favorite overall. In any case, it earned a 10 (Masterpiece) rating from me on MyAnimeList, joining an exclusive group consisting of just five other (non-movie) titles: Kaleido Star, Super GALS, Fruits Basket, Princess Nine, and Ginban Kaleidoscope.

Even my mom liked it. She only saw a handful of episodes though, so when I told her I was planning to buy it, she was all "Yay!" *laughs* Now I just have to wait for Right Stuf to have a good sale on it. It's possibly good enough that I would consider buying retail if I had the money, but I do think the retail price is a bit steep for a two-boxset, thirty-seven episode series. Hopefully they'll come up with a cheaper, complete boxset once they finish milking the series for all it's worth. (Ugh, I hate this new trend of splitting up series that don't need to be split up into separate boxsets just to make more money! It's so annoying! I really want to buy Ouran High School Host Club, too, but it's the same deal with that one. At least make the boxsets a bit cheaper! Nobody wants to pay forty, fifty, sixty dollars for only half a season!)

Anyway, back to DN. Favorite character, in case you haven't already guessed from the above list, is Light. As somebody who is against the death penalty, I can't agree with his ideology at all, but dang it if he isn't just totally and completely fascinating as a character. (And he's hot, too, which is always a plus in my book. Added him to my Harem of Bishies, along with Matsuda.) Second favorite is Matsuda, who is just adorable, followed closely by a three-way tie for third place between Light's father, Misa, and Aizawa. Didn't care much for L, although he was an okay character. He was a little too quirky for my taste, I guess. I prefered Near.

And like I predicted a few entries back, of course I've got plot bunnies! -_- Right now I've got a Matsuda/Sayu fic swimming around in my head, but I doubt I'll write anything until I have the chance to watch the series again. It lost me a couple of times with all the Death Note switchings, so I'd rather wait until I have a good grasp of canon before I actually try to write for it. Good thing, too, since I already have enough on my plate!

heavenly_pearl: (Default)

Because it's been a while since I've done one of these, and I have nothing else to post:

Name your five favorite works of historical fiction, and why you love them.

1. Emma - The romance is very well done, and the art is fantastic.
2. Le Chevalier D'eon - I love how everything plays out pretty much like it actually did in history, except with a supernatural twist. Plus, D'eon and Durand are hot. HOT.
3. Fushigi Yugi (as well as Fushigi Yugi: Genbu Kaiden) - Does it count as historical fiction if the setting is based on ancient China, but is not actually ancient China? Oh, well, I'll count them anyway, because I'm having trouble filling up this list as it is. I don't read/watch a lot of historical fiction. (Besides, FY:GK's real world setting is Japan in the...1920s, I think? So that'll fit regardless.)
4. Mulan - Speaking of ancient China, my absolute favorite Disney move ever! Great animation, great story, great music, great humor, great romance... What more could you want?
5. Gone with the Wind - It's a classic. 'Nuff said.
heavenly_pearl: (Default)

Name five characters who have traits you wish you possessed.

1. Kotobuki Ran (Super GALS) - She has a very strong sense of justice that I find very admirable. No matter how much she tries to rebel against her family's tradition of becoming police officers, when she sees somebody being wronged, she just can't help but to step in.

2. Naegino Sora (Kaleido Star) - The girl just doesn't know the meaning of the word "quit". Minus that one short arc in the second season, when she sets her mind on doing something, she goes after it whole-heartedly, no matter how high the odds are against her. I also like the fact that she cares more about making the audience happy than feeding her own ego with awards and accolades.

3. Honda Tohru (Fruits Basket) - Everybody could stand to be a little more like Tohru, I think. She's just so...nice! Maybe even a little unrealistically so, but that's certainly not a bad thing. Just imagine how much better the world would be if everybody was as kind and accepting as Tohru. I'd like to live in that kind of world.

4. Kaioh Michiru (Sailor Moon) - Musical, artistic, athletic, intelligent -- she has everything, and she's beautiful to boot!

5. Shitow Haruka (Rah-Xephon) - I admire how deep and undying her love for Ayato is, despite the circumstances. She's also just plain cool.

I'm getting really bad about updating this thing. What has it been? Like two weeks since my last post?

And I never did post the answers to the Favorite Character Meme from said last post, so for those who are interested, here they are.

Favorite Characters )

Now, onto the real purpose of this post, this interesting [info]fannish5:

List the 5 essential items (fic, vids, canon episodes, etc) that all newcomers to your fandom should see.

The fandom I chose is Sailor Moon (of course), and I'm going to do this in two parts. First, a list of my five "must see" episodes, then a Top 10 fanfic list. (Yeah... I couldn't keep it to just five. *laughs*) All are in no particular order.

Episodes

- Episode 24 "Naru's Cry! Nephrite Dies For Love" - This was the episode that made me fall in love with Sailor Moon. I liked all the episodes I saw before this one (starting with the bride episode, which was my first), but this one... *sobs* It's just so tragic! Nephrite was my first anime love! I think I was just about as upset as Naru was when he died.

- Episodes 198-200  "Disappearing Stars! The End of Uranus and Neptune"/"The Light of Hope! Final Battle for the Galaxy"/"Usagi's Love! The Moonlight Lights Up the Galaxy" - So, I'm totally cheating and putting these three episodes as one. :P I considered using this spot for the last two first season episodes, but the Sailor Stars finale is even better than that one, which is really saying something. It's the series finale, and, boy, did it go out with a bang!

- Episode 158-159 "The Secret of the Pegasus! The Handsome Guardian of the Dream World"/"Chibi-Usa's Little Rhapsody of Love" - Yeah, I'm cheating again -- maybe I should have done a top 10 list, like with the fics? -- but they're both essential episodes for Helios/Chibi-Usa fans like me. ^_^ Chibi-Usa finally learns that Pegasus is actually a (totally gorgeous) human boy named Helios, and a cute romance is born!

- Episode 149  "Mirror of Dreams! Amazon's Final Stage" - For anybody who says that SuperS is a terrible season with little substance, I dare you to watch this episode and not be moved to tears by the Amazon Trio's sacrifice. That's all I'm going to say about it.

- Episode 141 "Storm of Love! Minako's Grand Two-Timing Plan"/Episode 181 "Seiya and Usagi's Heart-Pounding Date" - Yep, cheating, and this time they aren't even in the same season! But I thought this list needed a mention of some of the more humorous episodes, and these two are comedy gold.

Fanfiction

- Sailor Moon: Millennials by the Judge - I'm so disappointed that this fic appears to be abandoned, especially since Helios had just been introduced into the story. :( However, even incomplete, it's still one of the best Sailor Moon fics ever.

- Sailor Moon 4200 by Angus MacSpon - A next-generation senshi fic done right, with some of the best original characters ever created. It's a testament that even after all these years, fans still eagerly await each new chapter, even if they only come out about once a year.

- The Secret by Ken Wolfe - Amazing, amazing story. A true classic.

- Empire of the Sun by Sophia Prester - Glad to see this story hasn't been abandoned, as evidenced by the new chapter that came out a few weeks back. Best Sailor Moon crossover ever.

- Angel Electric by his lordship Chaos - It was inevitable that there would be a Chaos fic on this list. Heck, I could have answered the fannish5 question with just his fics alone: Tales of the Dreamworld, 1101, The Paranoia Groove, Mamoru Chiba Needs a Hug (which is the second best SM crossover ever)... I wanted to put them all on the list, but I think Angel Electric, while not my personal favorite of his (although close!), is probably the story with the widest general appeal.

- Blessed Be by superkate - As a general rule, I'm not a fan of AU, but this is an example of AU done right, and, as a bonus, it's about Helios and Chibi-Usa, which just makes it even more awesome. ^_^

- Misconception by Dejana Talis - Most people would probably say Against All Odds is her best fic, and it's certainly worthy of being on this list, but I have to say that I prefer Misconception slightly more, just because it's a more original idea than AAO. A brilliant story about how the future can change in an instant.

- Hands Fall Together by Kihin Ranno - An original -- and, oftentimes, hilarious -- look into what might have happened had Luna not found Sailor Moon, but Tuxedo Kamen instead.

- Pretty Soldiers by Sokudo Ningyou - It's a big job, rewriting and reworking the complete Sailor Moon manga into prose form, but to risk sounding blasphemous, I think her story is even better than Naoko Takeuchi's original.

- The Awakenings of Tsukino Chibiusa by Kotetsu - A must-read for all fans of Helios/Chibi-Usa. You will cry.

Boy, that was tough! There were so many other stories I wanted to mention -- like Meara's trilogy, Jason's The Brooch, Samuraiter's Baron Agate, and Kate's Galactic Sailors -- but I think these ten are a good start for any newbie Sailor Moon fan.

heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Name five imaginary places you would like to go on vacation.

1. Elysion (from Sailor Moon) - Helios lives there. No further explanation.
2. Aqua (from Aria) - Okay, so technically, Aqua is Mars, but it's a different Mars from the Mars of today, so it counts as imaginary, right? Maybe I should have been more specific and said Neo-Venezia...
3. Kinkan Town (from Princess Tutu) - I just think it would be fun to see all those animals acting like humans and nobody thinking it odd at all. Just have to keep under Drosselmeyer's radar while I'm there. No leading character for me! I just want to be in the background.
4. Oh, I can't remember the name, and Wikipedia isn't helping, but it's the virtual reality game world in TRC. Outo? Maybe? (from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle) - Whatever it was called, it's my favorite of all the worlds the gang has been to so far, going by the English release of the manga. Wouldn't want to be a demon hunter though. I'd go the Fai and Sakura route and open up a business.
5. Hogwarts (from Harry Potter) - Heh, I guess going to school doesn't really count as a vacation, but, still, it would be cool.
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Name five non-canoncial couples that you would like - or would have liked - to see get together in canon.

1. Endymion/Pluto (Sailor Moon) - At least for a one night stand. It would have totally ruined canon if he actually had left Usagi for Pluto, but stil...
2. Amon/Robin (Witch Hunter Robin) - There were hints they they had feelings for each other in canon, but nothing concrete.
3. Yuri/Layla (Kaleido Star) - They would make gorgeous babies, although I can't imagine either one of them really wanting kids. They're too devoted to their careers.
4. Roy Mustang/Riza Hawkeye (Fullmetlal Alchemist) - I just like the idea of them together.
5. Nana O./Yasu (NANA) - Since the manga is still ongoing, this one is actually possible. I hope it does happen, because they fit so well together.
heavenly_pearl: (Default)

Man, another long break between updates. My life is totally boring. -_-

Well, anyway, I still don't really have anything interesting to talk about, but today's [livejournal.com profile] fannish5  question is kind of fun, so here goes.

Name 5 characters you would not want to trade lives with.

1. Any of the Sohmas (Fruits Basket) -- Changing into animals whenever hugged by the opposite sex and forced to obey Akito's whims? No thank you. (It's hard to choose who really has it the worst, since they all have it pretty bad, but if I had to choose just one who I wouldn't want to be, then it would probably be Rin. But then again, she does have Hatsuharu and awesome fashion sense...)

2. Harry Potter, especially pre-Hogwarts. (Harry Potter) - I hate the Dursleys. End of explanation.

3. Ikari Shinji (Evangelion) - His life just sucks.

4. Chise (Saikano) - Her body is turned into the ultimate weapon. Nothing good comes out of that.

5. Sailor Pluto, pre-resurrection/reincarnation (Sailor Moon) - She may be my favorite senshi, but I don't envy her position as the Guardian of Time at all. How incredibly dull it must be to stand guard at the Time Gates for thousands and thousands of years, with only the occasional visitor.
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
I think I went a little nuts today. >.<

Like I mentioned in my last post, Mom and I hit the post-Christmas sales at Wal-mart and Target as planned. Wal-mart was still having their Sims sale, so I bought the Bon Voyage expansion pack I wanted, along with Pets and the new Mansion and Garden Stuff pack. I wasn't really planning to buy that much, but the sale was ending tomorrow, so I figured I might as well pick them up since the price was right.

That should have been enough, right?

But Target was also having a Sims sale (I guess because Sims 3 is coming out soon). It wasn't quite as good as Wal-mart's - Wal-mart had the packs for $15, while Target was selling them for $20 -- but they had some of the packs that Wal-mart didn't, so guess what? Yep, I bought even more: Teen Style Stuff and H & M Fashion Stuff. *laughs* I spent almost ninety dollars today on Sims!

Clearly, I am insane. -_-; And I haven't even installed one of the packs I got for Christmas yet, since I wanted to get used to University before adding Seasons. I'm thinking I'll install one expansion pack per week; that should be enough time to figure things out. (All the Stuff packs are already installed.)

Name your 5 favorite families, from any fandom.

1. The Kinomoto family from Card Captor Sakura - Sakura, Touya, Fujitaka and Nadeshiko (even if she is deceased)
2. The Weasleys from Harry Potter - Arthur, Molly, Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, Ron, and Ginny
3. The Sohma family from Fruits Basket - Way too many to list. *laughs*
4. The Kotobuki family from Super GALS - Taizo, Kiyoka, Yamato, Ran, and Sayo
5. The Walkers from Brothers and Sisters - Nora, Tommy, Sarah, Kitty, Kevin, and Justin

heavenly_pearl: (Default)
List your five favorite love triangles.

1. Kyo/Tohru/Yuki (Fruits Basket) - What was so great about this triangle is that there was actual suspense about who Tohru would actually pick. In the beginning third of the manga and most of anime, it seemed like Yuki was the more likely main love interest, but then as the manga went on, Tohru and Kyo got closer (Yay!) and Yuki met Machi, and it felt completely right.

2. Neo-Queen Serenity/King Endymion/Pluto (Sailor Moon) - So, maybe they're not technically a canon love triangle, but as most of you already know, I'm a fan of the "Pluto has feelings for Endymion" thing that was hinted at in the manga.

3. Ryo/Hiroki/Izumi (Princess Nine) - Sure, Hiroki could have prevented a lot of drama had he just told Izumi at the beginning of the story that he just liked her as a friend and that he was in love with Ryo, but the series might not have been as entertaining if he had.

4. Yuusuke/Momoko/Kazuya (Wedding Peach) - It was so cute watching Momoko try to fight her growing attraction to Yuusuke while insisting that she liked Kazuya instead.

5. Mitsuki/Takayuki/Haruka (Rumbling Hearts) - Just watch it. You'll cry your eyes out.
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Happy Halloween!

First, a [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 question, since it's appropriate for the holiday and it seems like forever since I did one.

Name 5 episodes or movies that would be most appropriate to watch on Halloween.

1. The Phantom of the Opera - Like I really need an excuse to watch my second favorite movie, but it does work well as a Halloween movie if you don't care for the scary stuff. (If you want the scary stuff, though, I've heard older, non-musical versions are scarier.)

2. Casper - Man, it's been forever since I last watched this, which is a shame because I adore it. Maybe I'll put it in tonight.

3. The Sixth Sense - Really the only "horror" movie I actually like, because it's more pyschological than gory.

4. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown - I was so happy that I actually got to see this year. Usually there's something else on at the same time when it comes on TV, but this year my TV schedule was free and clear. It's good for the nostalgia value.

5. Kiki's Delivery Service - Well, it is about a witch, and it's a really good movie! ... Yeah, like I said, I'm just not into scary movies, so I couldn't really think of anything else that fit. *laughs*

And now some Halloween memes I actually did a couple of years ago, but decided to resurrect )

Lessee, what else is there to report? Oh, my birthday is this Sunday. Blergh. I'm not looking forward to it. Is it possible to have a quarter-life crisis? Because I think I'm going through one.

And I'm almost finished making my plans for NaNoWriMo. Still don't quite know what I'm going to do with the middle part of the story yet, but I figure I have at least a couple of weeks before I absolutely have to think of something. (Have I mentioned before how hard it is for me to write romance?) At least I know how the beginning and the end will go. That's something, right?

Speaking of which, I better sign off and get back to work.
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Name five fandoms that you're not (yet) in, but which seem intriguing.

Well, I think I already have enough fandoms at the moment, so I'm going to just list the top five anime/manga I really want to watch/read.

1. Someday's Dreamers: Natsu no Sora - I finished reading those two scanlated chapters I mentioned in my last entry, and I'm already pretty certain that Sora's going to be my favorite protagonist of the franchise. ^_^

2. Death Note - Reading tons of rants about it over a [community profile] fanficrantsand seeing some of the cute merchandise Dejana has has definitely got me interested.

3. Phantom Dream - I'm excited about Tsubasa: Those With Wings as well, but based on what I know about the two series, I think I'll probably prefer Phantom Dream.

4. Sugar Princess - It's not The Cherry Project, but finally a figure skating manga is coming to America! You have no idea how much I'm looking forward to next month when the first volume is set to be released.

5. Ginban Kaleidoscope - And to finish off the list, a figure skating anime. ^_^ Unfortunately, I'll probably never have the chance to watch it unless it gets licensed, and I have little hope of that ever happening. *sigh*
