WANT!

Anybody have a spare $1500 laying around that they'd be willing to give me? My birthday IS coming up next week, after all... No? Darn!

But just check out this eBay listing: Stallion Reve, Pegasus Plush, and a SuperS henshin wand! Those first two things are pretty much my Holy Grails -- not be confused with the Holy Grail that of such importance to S/Ifinity -- of Sailor Moon merchandise collecting, and the henshin wand is pretty spiffy, too. Argh, I want them so, so much! *sigh* Oh, well...

In happier news, I finally sold off all my extra Petit Chara figures. Whoo! Now just need to find a Sailor Jupiter and Tuxedo Mask to complete my collection. Those really do seem to be the rare ones. (Well, there is one Jupiter currently for sale, but I don't want to pay $15 for her if I don't absolutely have to. Edit: Went ahead and bought her anyway. With a combined shipping discount and a buy-3-items-get-$3.00-off deal from the seller, the price was more along the lines I was willing to pay. And I got two more items for my Pluto collection!) Might have to resort to buying some more blind boxes and hoping for a lucky find. BTW, whoever came up with the concept of blind boxes is EVIL. True, an absolute genius, but still evil.

I still have a bunch of other things for sale, too, which you can find here. Of particular note for Sailor Moon fans are the animated musical Luna that came out in the 90s (still works!) and a bunch of cards that were sold from vending machines at Toys R Us back in the day as well. There are also a bunch of DVDs that I'm selling on behalf of my mother. She's a huge horror buff, so there's tons of scary movie on there (including a whole boxful I haven't even listed yet). Probably too late to buy any and get them in time for Halloween, but still might be worth a look if you like that sort of stuff.

Kitty!

My mom just brought home the sweetest gray tabby!

Total surprise. Mom was a work, and a customer found an abandoned cat. She couldn't take it home with her, though, because her son is allergic, so she asked if anybody in the pharmacy would be willing to take it. As it so happens, over Thanksgiving, Mom mentioned that she was thinking about getting me a cat for Christmas -- talk about fate! So of course she volunteered and took a short break to drop it off at home.

Oh, man, this cat is so unbelievably CUTE! I'm already in love. She's -- Mom was calling it a "he", but it looks female to me -- exploring the house right now, but she keeps coming back over to me every few minutes, wanting me to pet and kiss her. *melts into a puddle of goo* And I don't think she's stopped purring yet! I wish our digital camera worked... This cuteness demands to be shared.

Now I have to think of a name. When Mom first mentioned the possibility of a cat for Christmas, I thought Angel would be rather appropriate, and it certainly does suit her. (Except for when she stepped on the computer and accidentally turned it off when I was in the middle of writing this entry, scaring the crap out of me... *laughs* Oh, well, she's so cute, I forgive her!) But she also seems like a Daphne to me, for some reason (presuming she is a girl). Luna could also work. Hmm, I'll have to think about it.

In other news, I'm a bit annoyed because I ordered Christmas presents for my mother and brother-in-law from Amazon a couple of days ago, but it seems like my brother-in-law's gift is now on backorder and probably won't be delivered in time for Christmas. They said there was still one left in stock when I ordered it... I guess someone was just a little faster, though. *sigh* Now I don't know what to do. I guess print out a picture and stuff it inside a card, explaining that he'll get it eventually? (I don't want to cancel it and get him something else; it was hard enough shopping for him in the first place.)

Oh, and last week's Andrea Bocelli concert? A-MAZ-ING. Best birthday present EVER.

It's here!

Whee, the Death Note boxsets I ordered from Right Stuf for my birthday came in today! Can't wait to watch this again. ^_^
heavenly_pearl: (Default)

So, guess what? I actually managed to meet my Halloween deadline. The rough draft of To Be By Your Side, my newest Chibi-Usa/Helios story, is done! (Well, done enough, at least. I know I'm going to add more scenes later, but the main part of the story is finished.) That means I'm now looking for editor. Anybody interested? For those who are going to be Nano-ing, I'm not planning to send the first chapter out until December, so don't let that stop you from volunteering. When it comes to an editor, I feel I'm fairly solid on spelling and grammar (although everybody makes mistakes every once in a while), so I'm looking more for an editor who will concentrate more on the other stuff: characterization, plot, emotion, etc.

I also feel I should point out as a warning that the story deals with the topics of depression and suicide, so if that's something you would rather not read, then don't volunteer.

On a related note, guess what I happened to find listed at Right Stuf? DVDs of Sailor Moon SuperS Pegasus Collection #6 (although they put an S summary up) and the SuperS movie! My eyes nearly jumped out of my head when I saw them listed. O.o Seems like they got in some very old backstock. Very limited quantities, though. At the time I'm writing this, they have 28 left of the Vol. 6 and only one of the movie (which I was tempted to get since I have the movie on video and would like it on DVD, but I highly doubt that'll still be in stock on my birthday next Monday, when I'll probably have the money to buy it. Oh, well.) If you've been looking for either of those for your collection, you better pick it up fast.

Lastly, happy belated birthday to my favorite senshi, Setsuna/Sailor Pluto! (Her birthday was yesterday.)

Yay! Right Stuf has finally sent off Cherry Juice Vol. 1, five months to the day after I ordered it for my birthday. Geez, I have no idea what the hold-up was. -_- I just hope it's worth the wait, especially since I had been saving the rest of the series to read until it came in.

In other news, my life is still boring. That is all.
heavenly_pearl: (Default)

Man, when is Right Stuf finally going to get in a new order of Cherry Juice volumes? I ordered them for my birthday over two months ago, and they're still on backorder. *sigh* I didn't really mind at first, since it was kind of a "well, okay, this sounds kinda interesting" purchase, instead of a "must have right now" kind of purchase -- I haven't even read the Vol. 3 that they did send me yet, which is definitely unusual for me -- but two months is a bit ridiculous.

I want new manga. :(
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Yeah, as I feared, Sims 2 is making it mighyt difficult to concentrate on NaNo. *laughs* I held out until I reached about 2100 words today, but by three o'clock,  I just had to quit and play Sims. The game was calling out to me, "Play me! Play me!"

Evil, eeeeevil game. But, oh, so fun.

Anyway, it was a okay birthday, I guess. I couldn't decide if I wanted a cake or to go a little non-traditional with birthday brownies, so my mom was nice enough to make both. Yum. Plus, we also had barbeque. Double yum. As for presents, of course I got the Sims, but Mom thought a $20 game wasn't enough, so she also let me pick out about $60 worth of manga from Right Stuf. I ordered all four volumes of Cherry Juice, the one-shot manga Shirley (from the mangaka of Emma), Vol. 2 of Sugar Princess, Vol. 7 of Fushigi Yugi: Genbu Kaiden, and Vol. 13 of NANA. Everything is either backordered or on pre-order (though coming out tomorrow), so this is one time I'm actually hoping Right Stuf will take their time in sending me my order.

'Cause new manga and Sims 2?

I'll be in big trouble.

Now, off to play Sims!
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Well, I'm twenty-five today. Ugh. I feel unbelievably old. (Yeah, I know it's not that old, but to someone who considers herself a teenager at heart, I'm old. :P)

Only good thing about today is that Mom's going to buy me Sims 2 for my new computer. I told her I didn't really want anything, since my parents already bought me the computer, the new desk, chair, and printer, but she insisted on getting me something, and I've really been wanting Sims 2 ever since we got this computer. (My old one had trouble with the original Sims, so I never even dared to try Sims 2 on it.) It's kind of bad timing, though, with NaNoWriMo going on... I'll probably have to make up a rule that I can't play it on the weekdays until I've at least reached my 2,500 words-per-day goal, or else I'll never get anything done. *laughs*

Speaking of NaNoWriMo, I'm off to a decent start, I suppose. I wrote about a thousand words yesterday, which is good, considering it was a Saturday, and I normally don't write on weekends. I'll get really serious about it tomorrow.

(Heh, you know what's kind of amusing? Today's the end of Daylight Savings Time, meaning today gets an extra hour. Twenty-five hours for my twenty-fifth birthday, that's kind of neat. Just wish my body had let me sleep in the extra hour... Oh, well.)

Happy Halloween!

First, a [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 question, since it's appropriate for the holiday and it seems like forever since I did one.

Name 5 episodes or movies that would be most appropriate to watch on Halloween.

1. The Phantom of the Opera - Like I really need an excuse to watch my second favorite movie, but it does work well as a Halloween movie if you don't care for the scary stuff. (If you want the scary stuff, though, I've heard older, non-musical versions are scarier.)

2. Casper - Man, it's been forever since I last watched this, which is a shame because I adore it. Maybe I'll put it in tonight.

3. The Sixth Sense - Really the only "horror" movie I actually like, because it's more pyschological than gory.

4. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown - I was so happy that I actually got to see this year. Usually there's something else on at the same time when it comes on TV, but this year my TV schedule was free and clear. It's good for the nostalgia value.

5. Kiki's Delivery Service - Well, it is about a witch, and it's a really good movie! ... Yeah, like I said, I'm just not into scary movies, so I couldn't really think of anything else that fit. *laughs*

And now some Halloween memes I actually did a couple of years ago, but decided to resurrect )

Lessee, what else is there to report? Oh, my birthday is this Sunday. Blergh. I'm not looking forward to it. Is it possible to have a quarter-life crisis? Because I think I'm going through one.

And I'm almost finished making my plans for NaNoWriMo. Still don't quite know what I'm going to do with the middle part of the story yet, but I figure I have at least a couple of weeks before I absolutely have to think of something. (Have I mentioned before how hard it is for me to write romance?) At least I know how the beginning and the end will go. That's something, right?

Speaking of which, I better sign off and get back to work.

Some of you might remember that my sister gave me a Blades of Glory DVD for my birthday last year (although I actually ended up getting it around Christmas since she kept forgetting to bring it when she visited). Even though I usually watch DVDs right away when I get them, I never watched it, since I had already seen it at the theater and had a backlog of anime to get through.

Well, last night I was really in the mood to finally watch it, except I couldn't find it anywhere. :(

Mom and I must have searched twenty minutes for it with no luck at all. I just don't understand where it could be. Mom thinks it might have accidentally been thrown out with the Christmas trash (you know, wrapping paper, bows, and boxes), but I'm almost certain I've seen it on one of our DVD racks well after Christmas. It's not like I've lent it out to anybody, so it should still be there.

This is driving me crazy. Mom has promised to buy me a new copy if we can't find it, but I don't want my sister's gift to be a waste of money. I mean, I never got the chance to watch it.

*sigh*

This sucks.

I don't know what it is, but, lately, I keep managing to buy things on sale without actually realizing that they were on sale. ^_^ Last Friday, Mom and I went to Wal-mart to get stuff for Thanksgiving dinner, and I decided to spend the thirty dollars I (finally) got for my birthday to buy the new Celine Dion CD and Josh Groban's Christmas album (both which are fabulous, by the way). They were both originally around $14, but when I got up to the register, I found out the Celine CD was actually on sale for $10. Then, today when we went back to Wal-mart after church, I decided to get a couple of cheap video games for my GBA: Castlevania (NES Classic) and a Pac-man cartridge with four different Pac-man games. Those were priced as being $15, which I already thought was a good deal, but again when they rung up, they were on sale for ten.

Man, I hope this streak lasts when I start buying Christmas presents! *laughs*

I'm twenty-four today.

Ugh.
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Yep, today's my birthday. I turned 23.

Eh, nothing special.

I did manage to reach my 2,000 word goal for Mothers of the Bride, my Nanowrimo novel, yet again, though. Wahoo! I may actually be able to write all 50,000 by the end of the month.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

The South

Heh, I thought for sure that I would get Southern, since I am from the South, but, then again, I never really thought I had an accent, so I guess that's pretty accurate.

In other news, my story for NaNoWriMo is off to a good start so far. I managed about two thousand words today, which is my per-day goal. The NaNoWriMo website is majorly annoying me though. (Yeah, I finally officially signed up.) I know that a lot of people must be accessing it, but seriously!

Oh, well.

Birthday tomorrow. Blah.

My arm's been sore for the past couple of days and I don't know why. I mean, yeah, I did slip on a magazine last week after getting some birthday cake -- what a mess that was -- but that was days ago and I felt fine. Why is it hurting now? It's so annoying because I can't even raise my arm without feeling pain. About as high I can go is the height needed to type.

And speaking of typing, why can't I get back into the swing of things for ATR? I don't think I've even written a page worth of stuff this week. Helios-muse must be taking an extended birthday vacation, or else he's skipping out way early for the Thanksgiving holidays.

Grr.

Sometimes I think I need to fire that muse, but oh, the prettiness...

I'm rather ticked off with my sister. Laura forgot my birthday. I wasn't expecting a gift or anything like that, but a card or an email would have been nice. Even a short phone call would have sufficed, though she knows how much I hate talking on the phone.

Well, I'll give her until this weekend. Maybe she did mail me a card and it just hasn't gotten here yet. But if she didn't, I have half a mind not to send her an e-card this year for her birthday (which is next month) like I always do.

EDIT: It turns out that Laura didn't forget. She actually called the house last night, but since Mom had the ringer off and her number didn't show up on Caller ID, we didn't know it. However, she called Mom's cell phone today and told me "Happy Birthday," so I'm glad. I didn't think she was the type to forget something like that. ^_^

In other news, I forgot to mention that I finally watched Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone last night. Since I read the first three books during the Rita evacuation, I figured I might as well give the movies a try and see what all the fuss was about. It was pretty good, I guess. Strange thing, though, was that even though I thought it was too long, it also felt like it was too short as well. Does that make sense? I got the same feeling with the first book. I think it has something to do with the fact that I feel the Sorceror's Stone was never really given the attention that I thought it should in either canon. We know that it was created by Nicholas Flamel and it has the power to prolong life, but that's about it. (You know, if I wasn't so scared of the HP fandom, I wouldn't mind writing a fanfic about the creation of the stone.) Flamel himself doesn't even show up, which I think would have made things more interesting. Plus, the stone thing always seemed more like a subplot to me, instead of the main part of the book.

Other than that, my only complaint is that Lee Jordan (that's his name, right?) didn't do his hilarious commentary during the Quidditch match, instead stuck with just announcing points. His biased comments and Professor McGonagall's scoldings were the funniest parts in the books!
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Remember how I said we had my cake last Sunday? Well, Mom surprised me by bringing home yet another cake from the store, as well as food from McDonalds. O.o She told me she might bring me home a cupcake today, but that was totally unexpected and probably connected to something I'll talk about later in the post.

Dad surprised me as well by giving me a CD. It was Destiny's Child's greatest hits album. Granted, it isn't something I would have bought for myself, but I have to admit it was much better than the LotR's video he got me last year which I still haven't watched. (It's the second one, so I don't want to watch it unless I watch the first one.) At least I like Destiny's Child, even if they aren't my favorite group in the world.

Now, about why Mom was so generous tonight. Well, for the past couple of weeks, we've been having trouble with bouncing checks, so we've been trying to keep purchases down to the bare minimum until Mom figured out why. That's why I only got the Princess Nine boxset for my birthday, ordered with a credit card. As it turned out, though, it appears that somebody in Irving, Texas got ahold of our bank card number and bought a cell phone with it. O.o

I hate identity theft! It's my number one greatest fear. That's why I'm so anal about running my virus scan and anti-spyware programs. We don't know what happened, but I sure hope they didn't get it by hacking into our computer. I don't think Mom even uses the bank card online except for Netflix and AOL. Whenever we order online, we usually use credit cards. (Well, she does. I personally like using gift cards, since they're less of a risk. Even if I had a credit card, I'm so paranoid, I probably wouldn't use it.)

Well, the good thing is that the bank is going to credit us back the stolen money, so we actually have money again. That's probably why Mom decided to celebrate with the cake and fast food.

Today I'm 22.

Whoopie.

Here's a couple of meme results I thought were appropriate for today. ^_^

Your Birthdate: November 2

Your birth on the 2nd day of the month adds a degree of emotion, sensitivity, and intuition to your life. The 2 is a very social number allowing you to make friends easily and quickly. Yet you are apt to have a rather nervous air in the company of a large group.

You have a warmhearted nature and emotional understanding that constantly seeks affection. You are more prone than most to become depressed and moody, as emotions can turn inward and cause anxiety and mental turmoil. It can be hard for you to bounce back to reality when depression sets in.

Eh... I don't think that's really true of me. Maybe a little.

You Are 13 Years Old

Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.

13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!

40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.

Hey, I always say I still feel like a thirteen-year-old, although it's a bit disconcerting to have proof that it's true. *laughs*

Halloween

Oct. 31st, 2005 09:18 pm
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Happy Halloween!

You know what’s a good CD to listen to on Halloween? Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Requiem”. I hadn’t listened to it for the longest time, but for some strange reason, when I got up this morning, I was in the mood to play it, so I pulled it out and listened to it for most of the day. It definitely fits the theme of the day, considering it’s supposed to be a funeral Mass.

Unfortunately, other than that, this Halloween’s been really boring. We didn’t even get trick-or-treaters tonight, although the weather certainly fit the holiday -- the stereotypical "dark and stormy night." Oh, well, all the more Tootsie Rolls for me. ^_^

You know, I miss the days when Halloween used to be fun. :( There was a time when it was tied for my favorite holiday -- the other being Christmas, of course -- and not just because it meant my birthday was two days later. I only ever went trick-or-treating once because of my shyness, but I still loved putting together costumes, handing out candy, carving pumpkins, and decorating the house for my annual birthday party/costume party/sleepover... *sigh* Those were the good ol' days.

I don't want to be turning 22. I want to be a ten-year-old again.

It's not fair!

*pouts*
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Yeah, my birthday isn't until the second, but my parents won't be home until after seven that day, so Mom thought we might as well do the cake thing tonight. She offered to let me have my present (the Princess Nine boxset) as well, but I wanted to save something for Wednesday. Besides, I know if I had gotten it tonight, I would totally not work on my my Someday's Dreamers fic that I want to get done by my birthday.

The cake had to be the chocolatiest (yeah, that's not a word...) cake I ever had in my life -- Triple Chocolate Fudge with Triple Chocolate Fudge Chip frosting. Yum. I love not having my sister around to tell me I can't have a chocolate/chocolate cake. ^_^ I guess you could say this cake made up in spades for all the times I had to have a vanilla/chocolate, chocolate/vanilla, or vanilla/vanilla cake because Laura didn't really care for chocolate cake, even though she usually only ate one piece anyway.

I also managed to blow out all my candles for the second year in a row! Twenty-two this year -- I'm quite proud of myself. ^_^ Of course, they were all rather close together, but who cares? I still get my wish. (And no, I'm not telling or else it won't come true. :P)

In other news, tonight's Grey's Anatomy was just too sad, and not just because Derek chose... Well, I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it. I will say, however, that I don't think I've cried so much over a TV show for a long time.

*sniffles*

Oh, yeah, this show is becoming one of my faves...
