After years of ignoring my poor neglected websites, I decided to start working on them again, only to discover that somebody has ripped off my SuperS site.

The real Yume No Kagami

The fake Yume No Kagami

The strange thing is that technically both addresses are supposed to be mine. The Freewebs.com address was the orignal, but then the company changed their name to Webs.com and we were allowed our choice of which address to use. I guess the imposter hacked into my account somehow, although I don't see any real signs of that other than the site itself. (For example, I don't see any of their pages when I sign in to edit, so I can't delete them.) Oh, I figured it out. Their address isn't one that I own, after all. The lack of "_" is a subtle difference. http://yume_no_kagami.webs.com/ is mine; http://yumenokagami.webs.com/ is their's, so they made a new account. I also noticed that they linked to the real site, calling it Version 1. I guess that's...nice of them?

I'm not mad, exactly. The imposter was passing themselves as "Yumeko", so it's not like they were passing my work off as their own. They were just pretending to be me for some reason, and other than redesigning the site and accepting some (not really deserved, IMO) web design awards, they didn't do much else. (And they haven't updated since 2009, anyway.) It's just...weird. I don't get why they would do it.

So, I finished the HTML coding for my Fruits Basket timeline today. You can find it here. I have to warn you that there are, of course, spoilers up to Volume 19, so stay away if you don't want to be spoiled. If you do happen to give it a look, though, feel free to point out any mistakes I might have made or events I forgot. The bolded sections are parts I was unsure about, so if you think they should go somewhere else, I'm open to suggestions.

In other news, Mom totally surprised me today by giving me my own credit card. O.o Well, technically, it is her account since I don't have a bank account -- I like dealing in cash -- but I'm an authorized buyer on it and it's basically mine to do whatever I want with as long as I have the cash to cover it. Whoo! No more having to buy Visa gift cards or borrowing Mom's bank card whenever I want to order something online!

*dances*

A couple of months ago, you may remember that I mentioned plans to make a detailed timeline of the events in the Fruits Basket manga, since the one in the fan book was a bit bare bones. Well, today I finally finished it. I still have to code the HTML before posting it on my website, but hopefully I'll have it up sometime next week.

That's not really what this entry is about, though.

I'm going to do something I never thought I would do.

As some of you might know, I was never a big Yuki fan. I thought he was incredibly bland and not even that cute. I was a Kyo fan all the way, and that didn't change. Kyo is still one of my favorite FB characters.

HOWEVER, as of Vol. 19, I think I actually... really like Yuki now.

There, I said it! *whew*

Granted, he's still not one of my favorite characters in the series, but he's definitely moved up on the list. ^_^

The list? Well, for the members of the Zodiac, it goes (from favorite to least favorite):

Shigure
Hatori
Kyo
Hatsuharu
Rin
Ayame
Yuki
Kagura
Kisa
Kureno
Momiji
Hiro
Ritsu
Akito

Yuki used to be between Momiji and Hiro, FYI, so it's a pretty big leap.

Why now?!

Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow times a hundred!

Man, I normally don't get cramps during "that time", and when I do, they're usually pretty mild, but OW!

There goes my writing streak. *sigh* I can't concentrate on being creative when I'm considering ripping out my ovaries. Guess I'll just have to work on some website stuff instead.

Stupid curse!
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
So, I didn't mention it, but I did finish my Princess Tutu fic a couple of days ago. I don't really care for the ending, but since I've pretty much set on posting each scene as a separate chapter, that's okay. I have time to figure out how to fix it. At least it is finished. I actually finished something over 2,000 words for the first time in a long time! Yay!

Also worked a little bit on the Shigure/Mayuko fic I'm writing for [profile] 15pairings, but I just can't seem to figure out how to end it. :( It's difficult to write a romantic story about two people who basically got together because one is in love with somebody else and the other was just bored (and also in love with somebody else), but at least the theme is "why bother". *laughs*

Now I'm working on Someday's Dreamers: Spellbound Vol. 5 manga summaries for my website. Just one more to go, and I will be officially finished with all the website summaries -- at least until when/if the new series is licensed or I can find scanlations.

All in all, I guess you could say I've been fairly productive this week. Not as much as I would like, granted, but maybe a change is coming.

I've finally decided what I'm going to do with my first website's fifth anniversary. Since I'm no good at drawing, I decided it might be fun to use one of those doll-making websites to create images of some of my original characters. So far, I have the main characters of Spirit of Fire already finished, and I think they came out quite well. ^_^ I may end up redoing Miyuki's, because while she is a fairly feminine character, I don't think her fashion sense is quite so frilly, but the rest of them I really like.

I'm working on Jacqueline's (Minoru's fiancee) doll at the moment, and I may do Negishi if I can make him look old enough.

So, I read the two volumes I bought of Full Moon, and I'm just amazed how different the pacing is from the manga.

As for the other book I bought this weekend, the Fruits Basket fanbook, it has given me an idea for a project. One of the nifty things the fanbook includes is a timeline showing most of the major events that have happened in the manga so far. However, other than Tohru meeting Uo and Hana in middle school, Kyoko's death, and something kind of spoiler-y for those who haven't read the manga, none of the pre-canon (happening prior to Tohru moving in with the Sohmas) events are shown. That kind of sucks because there are quite a few flashbacks spread throughout the course of the story that are sometimes hard to date. What I want to do is make a detailed FB timeline, including every major event mentioned, including the birth years of all the major characters and Sohmas (since Rin and Kagura's ages are actually wrong in the fanbook). I think it would be quite helpful for my [profile] 15pairingsfics, as well as other fanfic writers. ^_^

(Oh, man, I just realized I missed the five year anniversary of Yume no Kagami. It was the fifth of this month. That sucks; five years deserves something a little special. Oh, well, I'll try to come up with something to do by the end of the month. Better late than never, right?)

When I first started my personal site, Pearls of Heaven, I really wanted to host all my fanfiction there. My original plan was to upload them all as text files and create nice little title pages for them with HTML. However, a couple of days ago, I was struck by another idea: Why not just create a writing journal here at LiveJournal and link to it at the website? I mean, that way I wouldn't have to go through all the trouble of HTML coding pages, and it would allow readers to leave comments if they wanted, instead of having to e-mail me if they wanted to send me a review.

Thus, [profile] oyster_shell was born!

It's not much at the moment, but I plan to start posting some of my older stories there real soon, maybe even tonight. So, if you happen to be a fan of my fanfiction, feel free to friend and watch it. ^_^

Finally!

I've finally finished uploading all the rest of my pics (mostly fanlisting codes) to my websites. Since Freewebs is continuing to be a pain when it comes to uploading pictures, I decided just to use my Photobucket account. So much easier, especially since at Photobucket, you can upload up to twenty things at a time. I still like Freewebs for everything else, but when it comes to pics, I'm definitely using Photobucket from now on.

While I was looking for some pictures for Mirai no Tsubasa, I happened to come across a Kaleido Star message board. As you can probably imagine, I was quite excited. I thought it would be a great chance to meet some other Kaleido Star fans, but when I was looking around, trying to decide whether or not to sign up, I discovered something very sad.

It's populated by people who can't type. *sigh*

Seriously, trying to read some of those threads made my head hurt. :( Maybe I'm just spoiled from hanging out with all the intelligent people at .moon, but...I can't join that board. I just can't.

So, now I'm considering starting a Kaleido Star community here at LiveJournal. While there are already a couple of KS communities in existence, none of them are really the kind I'm looking for. I want a place where fans of all pairings are welcome, where people can post fanfics and graphics and hold interesting discussions about the series. I haven't made a definite decision yet, but it's something I'm going to think about.
heavenly_pearl: (Default)

Okay, my new websites are almost done. I still have to upload a lot of pictures, especially for the fanlisting page on my personal site, but I have most of the pages themselves up, so I thought I would go ahead and post the links, if anybody happens to be interested.

First off, I'm warning you that, like my other two previous websites, these are pretty plain. I only know very basic HTML, so don't expect any beautiful, gorgeous layouts (although I would love to learn how, one of these days). Basic is the name of the game, here. folks. Also, like I mentioned before, I still haven't uploaded all the pictures, so...yeah. Some pages are probably going to look ugly for a while, but, oh, well.

The first site is my Kaleido Star site, Mirai no Tsubasa. This site is actually the closest to being finished. I just need to finish uploading the rest of the pictures for the Characters page, but I also want to find a bigger picture for the Home page so I can return the links to regular size. It sucks because I really like that picture with all the cast from the first season, but that's the biggest size I could find, and I don't want to enlarge it because it'll probably come out looking wonky. Speaking of wonky, I think I'll probably redo the splash image, too. Love the picture, but it is not the best quality by any means.

(On a side note, "wonky" seems to be my new favorite word. I've been using it everywhere lately. Huh.)

Now, the second, of course, would be my personal site, Pearls of Heaven. It's still under construction at the moment, but I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with this one. ^_^ I have my Harem of Bishies and my Anime/Manga Rankings list posted there, along with a long Links page with most of the sites I have bookmarked and a section where I plan to post all the avatars I've made for others to use. Granted, I'm not that great an icon maker, but who knows? Somebody might like them. The page I'm really excited about, though, is the Recommended Reading section I've been talking about, where I've linked all of my favorite fanfiction from a variety of different fandoms. I won't say that the stories on the list are the absolute best fandom has to offer, because that would just be stupid and arrogant, but I do like to think I have pretty good taste when it comes to fanfiction, so if you happen to see some of your fics on there, I hope you will consider it a small honor, at least. Or something like that. ^_^

Anyway, take a look around if you want, and if you happen to notice something that needs fixing, like a broken link (minus the ASMR links that I'm keeping up until there's definite word on what is going to happen with the site) or something like that, please comment so I can fix it as soon as possible.

heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Okay, first some good news: Starlight Pops is back! Yay! I guess there was just some problems with the site the day I tried to access it or something.

However, speaking of site problems, ASMR is still acting wonky, so I decided to just go ahead and look for alternate links for the stories I like. I actually managed to find quite a bit of them at FF.net and other fairly major SM archives, but there are still a handful of fics I'm looking for. I really would prefer links, as I want to post the links at my websites, but if you happen to have some saved on your harddrives and wouldn't mind sending a me a copy for my personal collection, that'll be great, too. (Even better if you happen to be the author -- yes, some of you are on here -- or know the author and can give/get me permission to host them.)

The List )

Thanks a lot, guys!
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Both the addresses/titles I wanted to use for my new websites are unavailable at Freewebs. :( Well, actually Pearl of Heaven is available, but I really would prefer that "pearl" was plural. The singular...just feels weird to me.

*sigh*

I suppose if I had to, I could still use my chosen titles and just pick different addresses, but...eh. I guess it's back to the drawing board, then. (Man, and I even had a splash image with the title of my Kaleido Star site already made.)

Boy, I've been complaining a lot the week. *laughs*
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Somebody bonk me on the head and tell me to stay away from fanlistings.org.

Seriously.

You know how many buttons I've collected over the last few day from fanlistings I plan to join once I get my personal site up? Roughly around 150.

>.<

I need help!

(Man, it is going to be a pain uploading all of those, especially if Freewebs keeps acting up...)
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Gaaaaah!

Man, what is wrong with Freewebs? I've been using them for about three years now to host my websites with little to no problems, but just trying to update Yume no Kagami this week was enough to drive me bonkers. I had to keep signing in every time I wanted to upload a picture, sometimes files would mysteriously come up "not found" when I wanted to update them, only to be fine the next time I opened it, and the worst thing of all was that one of the fanfic pages somehow got erased -- not once, but twice. The second time was no big deal, since I had the new page saved, but the first time it happened, I had to try to recreate it from a very old (2003) version I had saved, my new "Recommended Reading" page for the new website, and my FF.net favorites list. It so didn't help matters that ASMR is on the fritz again. (It better come back! I'm going to be so p.o.'d if it decided to disappear forever just when I was seriously considering saving some stories to my hard drive. Not to mention the links! Grr.) I think I managed to recreate most of it, but I know there are some stories at ASMR that I missed.

Well, anyway, I was planning to post my new sites tomorrow, but I think I should probably wait a few days and hope that Freewebs fixes the problems with their site.
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Hey, guys, does anybody out there happen to have Ken Wolfe's Secrets saved on their hard drive or know of another page where it is posted besides ASMR? His personal website is gone and ASMR's missing some chapters. :( It's one of my favorite stories, so if anybody has it and could send me a copy, I would really appreciate it. (Edit: Actually, now I'm looking for all of his stories, pretty much. Kiss of the Enemy is missing a chapter at ASMR, Pictures at an Exhibition doesn't look like it was ever completed at ASMR, and Four Horsemen, Frozen Time, and Under a Cloud all have corrupted .zip files.)

Actually, it's really rather depressing how many websites have disappeared lately. I've been working a "Links" page and a page of recommended fanfiction for my new personal site (which will most likely be called Pearls of Heaven), so I've been going through my bookmarks and getting rid of the ones that don't work any more. Can you believe Doi's site is gone? That was a classic for Sailor Moon fans. And Starlight Pops is gone as well! *sniffles* I wasn't much of a Sailor Starlights fan (except for Yaten), but I loved that site.

*sigh*

I'm thinking it might be time to seriously consider saving all my favorite stories to my computer, but that would be so much work... Gah.
heavenly_pearl: (Default)

Okay, so I've all but decided that I'm going to go ahead and create the two websites I talked about in my last entry. I pretty much have all the basic pages for the Kaleido Star site already done, and the personal page won't take long at all, since it'll probably only be one page for now, with links to the other sites, this journal, and maybe my FF.net page.

My problem? I can't decide what to call them.

For the Kaleido Star page, these are my choices so far:

Tattoo Kiss
Meisuu no Tsubasa (trans. - Wings of Destiny)
Tenshi no Tsubasa (trans. - Angel's Wings)

My personal favorite is probably Tattoo Kiss, which is the title of the show's third opening and follows the pattern I set with my Someday's Dreamers site Kaze no Hana, also named after the show's opening song. However, together with Kaze no Hana and Yume no Kagami (my SuperS site), I think one of the last two would fit better with the other titles.

As for my personal site, here are those choices:

Pearls of Heaven
Tengoku no Shinju (trans. - Pearls of Heaven)
Dreamland Fantasy
Golden Dream
Elysion Dreams

No real preference for this one.

So, anyway, what do you guys think I should call them?

Busy Week

Wow, I managed to get a lot done this week. Unfortunately, none of it was writing-related -- well, at least related to my fanfiction -- but I've managed to edit half of Dejana's Against All Odds (Yay, I get to beta a Dejana-fic!), write all the Someday's Dreamers manga summaries for my website, and made tons of avatars, most which can be found at Kaze no Hana. (I also made some Diamond Daydreams avatars, but you can see those next month when I change my journal avies. )Inspired by Kerry, I even tried my hand at making a Chobits theme for .moon, although I doubt I'll ever submit it since my graphic programs are pretty crappy and it didn't turn out as I would have liked. >.<

It feels good to be productive. ^_^ I just hope it lasts next week when I get back to work on ATR.

You know what I just realized? Yesterday was my fourth anniversary at ASMR.

Does anybody happen to know what's going on there? I haven't been able to get on all day. It keeps saying that it can't find the site. Man, that would suck if yesterday was the last day for ASMR, although also kinda cool in a way, since I would be one of the last of the members who could claim that they were there for four years.

Well, hopefully, whatever it is, it'll be fixed soon. I don't post there as much as I used to, but it would still be sad if it's gone forever. (Not to mention most of the links I have posted in the "Library" section of my website would be broken...)

And now...some random quizzes!

Lord Chaos wrote me a Christmas story!

Actually, he wrote it for the ASMR Holiday Challenge I started, but since he didn't want it to be entered in the contest, he gave it to me and allowed me to post it on "Yume no Kagami". I have an exclusive Lord Chaos story -- how cool is that? ^_^

The story is sort of sequel to Earth*ling, and it's called Strangers in Bethlehem. If anybody would like to read it, it can only be found at "Yume no Kagami" (link found under "Info") on the "Specials" page.

BTW, I hope everybody who is reading this and still posts at ASMR will enter the contest. It's only two thousand words and you have until the 20th of next month. *puppy dog eyes* Please? Pretty please with a candy cane on top?

In other news, I watched the first disc of A Little Snow Fairy Sugar last night. Soooo cute!
