Did my usual look back at the fanfiction I wrote last year over on Tumblr!

2021 Fanfic Year In Review

2021 Fanfic End of the Year Asks

It's also time for the usual seasonal anime review, as well as the reveal of my top ten favorite series of the year!

The aquatope of white sand - Last season, I said this had the potential to be one of my favorite series this year, and I happy to say...it is! Kinda annoyed that the "visions" from the first half of the series never really went anywhere, but that's my only real complaint. Otherwise, the characters are great, the animation is gorgeous, and it's just a really, really good show!
Restaurant To Another World 2 - I don't know if this series really needed a sequel, especially several years after the first season originally aired, but I'm glad it got one anyway! I liked that this season brought back a lot of customers from the previous season, and of course, the food porn was incredible! Especially since a lot of the food highlighted this time were some of my personal favorites. I was always excited when it came to watch a new episode, to the point that I actually considered it one of my favorites of the year, as you'll see below!

The Night Beyond The Tricornered Window - I will say that this got off to bit of a rocky start, especially with how Hiyakawa was so possessive and controlling of Mikado (which is a BL trope I hate) but it got a lot better once the story started focusing on the main mystery. It helps that Hiyakawa was given an understandable backstory for why he acted that way and that the story never really portrayed their relationship as healthy or sexy, with several other characters calling out Hiyakawa's problematic behavior. Actually, for a story that's supposed to be BL, I have to say it kinda sucks as one, with a main couple who honestly don't have any real chemistry, but as a paranormal mystery, it's great!
Tropical-Rouge Precure - After complaining that Sango, Asuka, and Minori were being ignored in favor of Laura and Manatsu, this cour delivered by giving the other three Precures a couple of focus episodes each. It would have been nice for them to have been more spread out through the series, admittedly, but as much as I love Laura, it was kinda nice to have a break from the "Laura and Manatsu Show".
SAKUGAN - I'm not really sure how I feel about this mecha series, to be honest! It got off to an amazing start, and there are moments of that initial brilliance in later episodes, but there are also quite a few low moments. Overall, I really liked it, but I also thought it could have been even better.
takt op.Destiny - I feel the same about this series as I do about SAKUGAN. There were points I really, really liked, and I loved the character designs, especially for the Musicarts, but the villains were pretty weak and uninteresting, and the stuff with Anna near the end was just...weird.
Platinum End - Though I had heard some less than positive things about the manga this series is based off, I still wanted to give it a chance because I absolutely love Death Note and Bakuman, created by the same writer and mangaka. The verdict? Yeah, it's pretty bad. The main character, Mirai, is the complete opposite of Death Note's Light in that he's 100% opposed to killing in any situation, even self-defense, which is fine, but he also lacks Light's intelligence or charisma, making for a dull lead. The main villain, Metropolitan, is slighlty more interesting, but he's no L either. Honestly, the best character by far is Mukaido. It's too bad he's not the main character, because I think he has the most interesting story to tell. Also, there are a couple of sex scenes featuring minor characters that are purely there for shock value that I found rather off-putting. That being said, this first cour ended with one heck of a cliff-hanger, so of course I'll be sticking around for the second cour to see if things can get any worse. *laughs*

For the upcoming Winter season, I plan to keep watching Platinum End (assuming it resumes right away; details about the start of the second season haven't been given yet, but there was a title card for the thirteenth episode at the end of the last one) and Tropical-Rouge Precure. I'm also catching up with the first season of The Case Study of Vanitas (which Crunchyroll unexpectedly picked up a couple of weeks ago despite being originally a Funimation title) so I can watch the second season (assuming Crunchyroll also gets it from the start this time). For new shows, I'm hoping Crunchyroll also gets Requiem of the Rose King and Sasaki and Miyano, but those are the only two that have really caught my eye so far based on summaries.

And as for my Top 10 Favorite Series of 2021...

*drumroll*

1. Fruits Basket
2. The aquatope on white sand
3. Zombie Land Saga Revenge
4. Sk8 the Infinity *
5. My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! X
6. Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun!
7. Laid-Back Camp Season 2 *
8. oddtaxi *
9.Heaven's Design Team
10. Restaurant To Another World

(* means I didn't watch it simulcast, but picked up later)

And new category! My Anime Movie of the Year was... the Sailor Moon Eternal movies, of course! I don't think I ever got around to gushing about them here, but while the first film admittedly had some pacing issues, the second one was amazing and was about all I ever wanted as an animated version of my favorite manga arc.

I haven't gotten around to putting those Petit Chara Moon and Mercury figures up for sale at eBay yet -- need to get boxes so I can estimate what shipping is going to cost, so my current offer still stands until I list them -- but I've certainly been doing a lot of window shopping the past couple of days. (And some actual shopping -- picked up the Venus figure from the same set at a fairly decent price and currently debating the Tuxedo Kamen figure, which is more than I ideally want to spend, but it seems like he's the rarest so I should probably get it while I can.) Oh, man, I want EVERYTHING! I keep reminding myself that Christmas is coming up and I need to save my money to buy gifts (and possibly get some things from Right Stuf's annual holiday sale), but it's so hard! Just look at some of this stuff:

WANT! )

Plus, a lot of other stuff! Man, I need to win the lottery or something.

In other news, Shirobako is AMAZING! Even though it was from the Fall 2014 season, which was the season that I watched a hundred shows, it somehow managed to completely slip pass my notice. I guess because at first glance it looked like one of those "cute girls doing cute things" type of shows, which I actually do tend to like on occasion, but like I said, I was already watching a hundred shows at the time. (Okay, more like maybe fifteen?) Anyway, it's actually not that type of show at all (although the five central girls are pretty cute). Instead, it's a semi-realistic look at everything that goes into making anime, and it's absolutely fantastic. It really made me appreciate just how much work goes into creating the shows I love, while also being quite funny and entertaining. In fact, I loved it so much that it's joining Kaleido Star, Death Note, Fruits Basket, Super GALS, and Ginban Kaleidoscope on my "Masterpiece" list. A definite "must see" if you're an anime fan!
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
First off, a reminder that those Petit Chara Sailor Moon and Mercury figures are still available for sale, although if I don't get any takers here by the end of the month, I'm thinking about putting them up for sale on eBay. I should also point out that the two extra Moons I have for sale are actually slightly different than the put-together one that I'm keeping in that the ones for sale have both their eyes opened (like the pic on the box). Same for Mercury: one is the same as the put-together one I'm keeping, but the other has both her eyes closed, with blush stickers on her cheeks.

Now, onto this 30 Day Anime Challenge I found on Tumblr, which is a little different than the one I did previous. Gonna do it all at once, though, just 'cause.

Meme! )

Manga Tag

Jul. 26th, 2015 01:03 pm
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Found this fun manga meme at a review blog I like to read, so I'd thought I'd bring it over here.

1. What was your first manga? Sailor Moon

2. What is your most expensive manga? Assuming that we're talking about individual books and not boxsets, then probably the Azumanga Daioh omnibus (from Yen Press). The retail price was $24.99 according to the cover, although I know I didn't pay that much. Still, I imagine I still paid around the $15-20 range for it.

3. What was your least expensive manga? The manga I got for free as gifts, obviously! But sticking to manga I paid for myself... Well, I actually bought the two volumes of The Flower of the Deep Sleep off the Amazon Marketplace for only a cent each, but I still had to pay shipping on them, so they ended up being $4 each. Still a pretty good deal, though not amazing. Hmm, I vaguely recall paying a dollar (or maybe $2?) for a manga on clearance at Half-Price Books, but I'm not sure which one it was... Call Me Princess, maybe? Yeah, I think that was the one. It's something I probably would have never picked up unless it was that cheap. (Just checked the price tag that's still on it -- $2.49, but I still don't think I paid that much for it.)

4. What is the most boring manga you own? Miyuki-chan in Wonderland -- pure fanservice, and not even that sexy. Still, it was CLAMP, so...

5. What is your favorite manga series? Fruits Basket! Although if NANA was ever completed, it might knock FB from the top spot.

6. What is the most relatable manga series you own? Kimi ni Todoke, definitely. I identify with Sawako like "woah"!

7. What is one manga you own that is based off an anime? As in the anime came first? Umm... I don't think I have any. I guess the closest would be Story of Saiunkoku, since the anime and manga were both based off the original light novels. (And I'm pretty sure the anime came before the manga.)

8. What is your rarest manga? Well, I don't know about rare in the general sense, but one of the most difficult volumes for me to find was Name of the Flower, Vol. 1, since I had the misfortune to order it right before CMX went out of business. I searched for around eight months for a decently priced used copy. And I still don't own print copies of Red River Vols. 15-17, but I have digital copies, which is good enough. (If I found those print copies for really cheap, I'd probably pick them up, but I'm not going out of my way to search for them.)

9. What is the most reprinted manga you own? I have no idea, really. I guess if you interpret the question to mean which had the most editions, then Sailor Moon might count: chapters in Mixxzine/Smile, Chix Comics editions (the single-chapter floppies), the Tokyopop graphic novels, and the new Kodansha graphic novels. (And I actually own most of those.)

10. What is the most popular manga you own? I imagine it's either Fruits Basket or Death Note, depending on which demographic you're talking about.

11. What is the most damaged manga you own? No question, the Tokyopop GNs of Sailor Moon. I've got pages falling out of a few of those.

12. Which manga has the most amazing art? I'd say A Bride's Story has the most amazing art in a technical sense -- Emma from the same mangaka is really beautiful as well -- but my heart really lies with Yuu Watase's style. CLAMP is no slouch themselves, especially when Mokona's the lead artist, like in Card Captor Sakura and Magic Knight Rayearth.

13. What is the oldest published manga that you own? Well, I know that Sailor Moon was the first manga I bought, but I don't think it's the oldest published, especially if going by when it first came out in Japan. Looking at the dates at MyAnimeList and Anime News Network, it looks like the oldest would be Let's Stay Together Forever, which came out in 1989. (Have no clue about American publishing dates.)

14. What is the newest published manga you own? Looks like Vol. 3 of Yukarism. (This time, talking about what was released in the U.S.)

15. What are some of the most recent manga you have purchased? The aforementioned Yukarism Vol. 3, Meteor Prince Vols. 1 & 2, Utsabora omnibus, Skip-Beat! omnibus (with Vols. 31-33), Arata: The Legend Vols. 21 & 22... Those are the ones that I remember off the top of my head.

I tag anybody who wants to do this!

Inspired by The Mike Toole Show column at Anime News Network, I thought it would be fun to make my own "Anime Alphabet", listing the titles of my favorite series I've watched for each letter of the alphabet. Feel free to make your own list if you'd like!

A Aria
B Black Butler (I briefly considered going with Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon instead, but since I had a few B English titles to choose from, it seemed unfair to go with a Japanese title for this letter.)
C Card Captor Sakura
D Death Note
E Evangelion
F Fruits Basket
G Ghost Hunt (I debated about putting Ginban Kaleidoscope here instead, but I decided to stick with licensed series.)
H Hare + Guu
I I My Me! Strawberry Eggs
J Jigoku Shoujo (a.k.a Hell Girl -- I had to cheat a little with this one and use the Japanese title to find one that started with a J.)
K Kaleido Star
L Le Chevalier D'eon
M Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit
N NANA
O Ouran High School Host Club
P Princess Nine
Q ... Yeah, I've got nothing. If I included manga, I could use Queen of Ragtonia... Oh, apparently when you translate the Japanese title of Excel Saga (Heppoko Jikken Animation Excel Saga), you get Quack Experimental Animation Excel Saga, so that'll work for Q in a convoluted way!
R Rah-Xephon
S Super GALS
T Tiger & Bunny
U Ultramaniac
V Vampire Knight
W Witch Hunter Robin
X X (as in the CLAMP series)
Y Yamada's First Time (but I also considered Yona of the Dawn, only excluding it because it's not complete at this moment)
Z Zero no Tsukaima (a.k.a Familiar of Zero -- Again, as with J, I had to look at the Japanese titles to find one that started with Z.)

Right Stuf is having their annual fabulous holiday sale, and of course I'm finding tons of things I want to buy. One bargain particularly caught my eye today: all four boxsets of Yu Yu Hakusho on sale for $11.99 each. That would be just $47.96 for 112 episodes! ($59.95 if I also buy the movie/OVA set, which I'm not all that interested in at the moment.) Awesome deal, right? I have watched the first 28 episodes (the first boxset) through Netflix and liked what I saw, but I'm not sure if I like it enough to want to risk blind-buying the rest of the series, no matter how great the price is. If you have watched the entire series before, what did you think of it? Does it get better as the series goes along? Stay about the same? Go sharply downhill after a certain point? Is the ending complete as is, or one of those series where you have to read the manga to get the real ending? (That's probably a dealbreaker for me. If I'm going to buy and watch 112 episodes, it better have at least a decent ending.) Would you recommend it for me, based on what you know of my tastes? I'm not a huge shounen fan, but some shounen series I've really liked in the past are Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist (both series), Rah-Xephon, Evangelion, Trigun, Code Geass, Full Metal Panic, Slayers, Soul Eater, Blue Exorcist, and Rurouni Kenshin. (Speaking of Fullmetal Alchemist, I have to squeal over the deal I got on the manga boxset earlier this week: $110 for twenty-seven volumes of manga, plus an bonus light novel! Too bad it was only that price for a week. EDIT: It's no longer that price at Right Stuf, but it turns out that Barnes & Noble is also holding a 50% off select Viz manga boxsets sale where you can get the FMA boxset for the same price I paid. It only lasts until Wednesday, though, so if you want to take advantage, do it fast. That really is a ridiculously good price.)

The sale continues until Dec. 28th, so I do have plenty of time to think it over, but I would like some opinions to help me make up my mind. Thanks!

Chapter 19 of Melting Ice has been posted at the usual places. I've also begun posting Against The Rules over at AO3. For some reason, I completely forgot about it when I posted the rest of my stories there!

Another double dose of meme questions:

23. Best manga/anime villain

He may be the protagonist of his series, but I gotta say the best manga and anime villain in my opinion is Light Yagami from Death Note. He utterly fascinates me with his belief that he is on the side of justice, despite the fact that he becomes one of the most prolific serial killers in history. That dichotomy within him makes him an interesting character to observe and puts him a cut above most other villains, who tend to be evil just because. Plus, he's definitely smarter than the majority of anime/manga villains out there!

24. The best long manga/anime series

Manga - Easy, a tie between Fruits Basket and NANA. (Criteria: Over twenty volumes.)

Anime - Kaleido Star, of course! Honorable mentions go to Super GALS, Card Captor Sakura, Fushigi Yuugi, Sailor Moon, Fullmetal Alchemist (both series), and Code Geass. (Criteria: Over fifty episodes.)

How did I get sucked into watching the Summer Olympics? I was only going to watch the opening ceremony. I don't care about the summer events; I prefer the winter events. Well, okay, there was a brief time when I was younger when I had a mild interest in gymnastics, but it didn't stick for very long. I haven't watched a competition in years. Yet here I am, glued to the TV set every night to watch gymnastics and swimming! I'm blaming my brother-in-law. :P When we visited last weekend, practically all we did was watch the Olympics since my sister was so busy with her schoolwork.

Oh, well.

I'll get back to the 30 Day meme tomorrow, but for today, I'm taking a break to do another meme that I snagged from s[livejournal.com profile] samuraiter

Fanfiction Meme )

Getting a little behind on this thing...

06. Your favorite character

Helios from Sailor Moon, obviously. Did anybody expect me to say otherwise? :P But that's kind of a boring answer to this question, so how about naming my top five male (excluding Helios) and female characters from anime and manga? (In no particular order)

Male Characters
Shigure (Fruits Basket)
Yasu (NANA)
Touya (Card Captor Sakura)
Harima (School Rumble)
Matsuda (Death Note)

Female Characters
Sora (Kaleido Star)
Ran (Super GALS)
Shurei (Story of Saiunkoku)
Yuko (xxxHolic/Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle)
Balsa (Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit)

So, it's been a while since I posted anything in this thing. Just haven't had much to say lately. Still don't, to be honest, but [livejournal.com profile] teh_maskmaid posted a fun little meme, and I can never pass those up.

Pick your top 5 favorite shows and answer the following questions: (I'm sticking to anime for which I'm fannish for, so these aren't my actual Top 5, but the first three are among the top five anyway.)

1. Kaleido Star
2. Death Note
3. Fruits Basket
4. Card Captor Sakura
5. Sailor Moon

01. Who is your favorite character in 2?
A tough one right off the bat... I think it's probably a toss-up between Light and Matsuda. Light is certainly the more interesting, complex character, but Matsuda is just so adorkable that I can't help but love him.

02. Who is your least favorite character in 1?
Rosetta. I don't hate her or anything; I'm just mostly ambivalent toward her. (And honestly a little annoyed about a certain spoiler. It should have been May, not Rosetta!)

03. What's your favorite episode of 4?
Oh, man, I have to choose just one? I guess I'll say Episode 27, Sakura and the Shrine of Memories, since it's about my favorite couple, Touya/Kaho, but really I love any episode in which Touya plays a prominent role.

04. What's your favorite season of 5?
It tends to switch between SuperS and Sailor Stars, but it's SuperS most of the time, for one major reason: HELIOS!

05. What's your favorite ship in 3?
I want to say Hatori/Mayuko, but unfortunately, Mayuko never got the chance to appear in the anime. (Same with Rin with the Hatsuharu/Rin pairing, another favorite.) So, just sticking with the anime, it has to be Kyo/Tohru.

06. Who is your anti-ship in 2?
I can't say I really have one, really, mainly because I don't consider Death Note a very shippy show. It's just not very romantic.

07. How long have you watched 1?
I actually went back through my Kaleido Star tags to find out the answer to this. I started watching in June of 2006, so a little over five years. ... Wow, it doesn't seem like it's been that long.

08. How did you become interested in 3?
I don't remember, honestly. ... No, wait, I do! I got a free sampler DVD from somewhere -- I think Suncoast -- with the first two episodes of Fruits Basket dubbed. I liked what I saw, so I decided to check out the rest of the series.

09. Who is your favorite actor in 4?
Well, generally speaking, I suppose my favorite seiyuu is Megumi Ogata, who voiced Yukito/Yue, but based on who I like most in the actual show, it's a bit of a tie between Aya Hisakawa as Kero and Tomokazu Seki as Touya.

10. Which show do you prefer: 1, 2, or 5?
Kaleido Star, Kaleido Star, Kaleido Star!

11. Which show have you seen more episodes of: 1 or 3?
Kaleido Star, for the simple fact that it has double the amount of episodes as Fruits Basket.

12. If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?
It's tempting to say Kaho, so I could dump Eriol and lure back Touya from Yukito...but I'm going to go with Tomoyo, who is super-rich and has a beautiful singing voice.

13. How would you kill off your favorite character in 1?
B-But I don't want to kill off Sora! You can't make me! (But a trapeze accident seems like the most logical choice...)

14. Would a 3/4 crossover work?
A Fruits Basket/Card Captor Sakura crossover? No ideas immediately come to mind, but I can't think of any reason why it couldn't work either.

15. Pair two characters in 1 that would make an unlikely, but strangely okay couple:
Jean/Mia. There's quite an age difference between them -- she's only a few years older than his daughter, after all -- but I like the idea of them together for some reason.

16. Overall, which show has a better cast: 3 or 5?
Fruits Basket has more interesting characters than Sailor Moon, so I'll go with 3.

17. Which has better theme music: 2 or 4?
Card Captor Sakura, definitely. I only really like the first OP for Death Note, while I love all the OPs and EDs for CCS.

Some people like to celebrate the holiday by making resolutions. Me? I prefer splurging on anime. ^_^ I used up two of the three Visa gift cards I got for Christmas on orders from Right Stuf.

With the $75 card my sister gave me, I bought:
CLAMP South Side Artbook - I've been wanting a CLAMP artbook forever, and since it was in the Bargain Bin, the price was right. Unfortunately, they don't have the North Side artbook. Guess I'll have to find a copy at Amazon Marketplace.
Slayers OVA Collection - I picked up all five seasons of the main series thanks to that amazing deal during their 12 Days of Anime sale, and I've really enjoyed what I've seen so far -- I'm almost finished with the second season -- so getting the OVAs was a bit of no-brainer, especially at only ten dollars.
Vols. 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 of Hare + Guu - This anime is HILARIOUS! And since Netflix is missing some discs, buying them is the only way I'll be able to watch the whole serious. Too bad they didn't have Vol. 5, though. Guess that's another thing I'll be picking up at the Marketplace.
$1 Blind Box item - Eh, I had a dollar left on the card, and it'll be fun to see what I get.

And with one of the $100 cards from my parents, I ordered:
Kaze no Stigma boxset
Bamboo Blade boxset
Gurren Lagann boxset - I almost got Spice and Wolf instead, but Gurren Lagann has more episodes for the same price and I liked it a little more.
Keychain of Light from Death Note

Pretty nice haul for $175, right? I'll probably leave the last gift card for ordering stuff from the Marketplace.
heavenly_pearl: (Default)

Whee!

I just got finished ordering the super-cheap Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo boxset I've been eyeing at Right Stuf for the past couple of months. When I saw it was down to ten of them left in stock, I was like, "Oh, no, you're not going to slip out of my fingers this time, my pretty! I'm armed with a Visa gift card, and I'm not afraid to use it." *laughs* I was also really tempted to get the Suzuka boxset, which they were selling for $17 and only had four left in stock, but I realized I probably only wanted it because it was so cheap, so I passed. (Now watch me make a post after it sells out about how much I want it now that it's gone. That seems to be my MO...) Instead, I ordered All My Darling Daughters (a josei manga of one-shots), all six volumes of Night of the Beasts (a series by Chika Shiomi, mangaka of Yurara and Rasetsu, who I'm liking more and more), and a cute Misa (from Death Note) keychain.

It's here!

Whee, the Death Note boxsets I ordered from Right Stuf for my birthday came in today! Can't wait to watch this again. ^_^

My Death Note manga boxset came in today! Yippee! And I must say that the box is really nice. I went with the boxset because it was the best deal, not because of the packaging, but I'm quite impressed. Best of all, no need to worry about finding a place on my nearly full bookshelves to put the books. I can just put the box on the floor or my desk or something. I can even tote the box around the house if I want instead of having to go back to my room every time I want a new volume. (I usually read in the living room.) They should start putting out more manga boxsets like this. I'd buy them -- a complete series for less than buying the manga individually, plus a really cool box to keep them in? What's not to like? (BTW, I've already read the first three volumes.)
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
I know I just ordered it a week ago, and there was the holiday, but I want my Death Note manga boxset! :( I don't understand why it's taking so long when it arrived in Austin on Wednesday according to tracking. In fact, it only took a day to get from Atlanta to Austin, so why is it taking so long to get from Austin to Houston or Baytown? (I think it's supposed to go to Baytown based on previous experience, but I'm not sure.) For that matter, why is it in Austin in the first place? I haven't done the math, but just looking at the map, considering that Austin is in Central Texas and Houston/Baytown is in East Texas, wouldn't Houston/Baytown be closer to Atlanta than Austin? Gah!

Usually I'm patient about these things, but I was really, really hoping it would come in today. I'm so bummed. *sigh* Considering how much money I saved, I should have just splurged and paid for faster shipping. Why do I always have to be such a cheapskate? -_-

But speaking of saving money, if you're ever looking for some ridiculously cheap anime, you may want to check out Big Lots. They don't have the best selection since they sell overstock at clearance prices -- actually, it's downright terrible -- but DVDs there are only three dollars. O.o Can't beat that, can you? Not even Right Stuf can sell them that cheap! I picked up the classic anime movie Memories -- not bad for a blind three dollar buy -- and was tempted by the first disc of xxxHolic, but since they didn't have any of the others, I decided not to. Too bad they didn't have any anime boxsets in stock this time. I was hoping they would, since I heard they usually sell for ten. Oh, well, maybe next time!
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
*sigh*

Neighbors are at it again, playing their music loud enough to wake the dead. I should have expected it, since it is Labor Day weekend, but they've been mostly quiet for the past couple of months, so I thought maybe we'd get lucky. No such luck. -_- Well, there's still a few more hours before I go to bed. I can hope things wind down by then. *crosses fingers*

On a happier note, I just placed an order at Overstock.com for the manga boxset of Death Note. I was intending to wait until they had a Viz sale at Right Stuf, but the Overstock price was even cheaper than it would be during a sale -- $61 compared to $67. I did have to pay shipping there, which kind of sucked since they had a free shipping offer earlier today, but, oh, well. Still cheaper. Yay, I can't wait for it to come in!

Yay!

Hehe, sorry. >.< Don't mind me, I'm in manga heaven at the moment. We finally got a chance to go to the bookstore today, and I totally loaded up!

The loot?

Fruits Basket 23
NANA 15-17
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles 21-22
Tsubasa: Those With Wings 2
Short-Tempered Melancholic (short story anthology from the mangaka of Full Moon wo Sagashite)

And I was very tempted by the new omnibus edition of CLAMP's Clover, but it's one of their abandoned series, so I can't decide if I really want it or not. :( Besides, I had already spent more than I intended since I didn't originally plan to get Short-Tempered Melancholic, and I wasn't expecting the new Tsubasa: Those With Wings to be out until Tuesday. Oh, well.

Now that Fruits Basket is over, though, I have to decide which series I'll start collecting next. Hmm... I'm almost definitely going to get Death Note, but I have my eye on the manga boxset at Right Stuf and am just waiting for a sale on it before ordering it. I'm not sure what I'll start buying individually, though. There are quite a few contenders: Skip Beat!, Ouran High School Host Club, La Corda d'Oro, Nodame Cantabile, Sand Chronicles, V.B. Rose... I'm sure there are a few more titles I'm forgetting. *sigh* Such a tough decision; I want them all! *laughs*
