Whee!

I just got finished ordering the super-cheap Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo boxset I've been eyeing at Right Stuf for the past couple of months. When I saw it was down to ten of them left in stock, I was like, "Oh, no, you're not going to slip out of my fingers this time, my pretty! I'm armed with a Visa gift card, and I'm not afraid to use it." *laughs* I was also really tempted to get the Suzuka boxset, which they were selling for $17 and only had four left in stock, but I realized I probably only wanted it because it was so cheap, so I passed. (Now watch me make a post after it sells out about how much I want it now that it's gone. That seems to be my MO...) Instead, I ordered All My Darling Daughters (a josei manga of one-shots), all six volumes of Night of the Beasts (a series by Chika Shiomi, mangaka of Yurara and Rasetsu, who I'm liking more and more), and a cute Misa (from Death Note) keychain.

Man, August has been a very uninteresting month.

Mildly exciting thing that happened today: the last volume of Yurara finally came in today from Right Stuf. I have no idea what took so long. O.o I pre-ordered it, and it was released all the way back in early June, but they just now got their order in. Oh, well, at least I finally got it. That's one more manga I can cross off the "collecting" list.

*crosses off*

....because yesterday they sent off the Absolute Boyfriend volume even though Yurara is still backordered. Yay! That means it should be in by the beginning of next week, since it's a holiday tomorrow. Finally something new to read!

*does a happy dance*

I take back all the complaining I did about you, Right Stuf. I love you!

You know, I normally consider myself a very patient person, but it's been almost a month since I ordered the last volumes of Absolute Boyfriend and Yurara from Right Stuf, and I still haven't gotten them. :( According to my Order Status page, Absolute Boyfriend has been "Reserved for your order" for a couple of weeks now, but Yurara is still backordered. Gah! Can't they at least send me the Absolute Boyfriend volume so I'll finally have something new to read? It seems like forever since I've read a new manga volume! (Looking back, I think my last manga splurge was all the way back in April. Oh, my, two whole months without new manga!)

Yeah, I know, I shouldn't be complaining. I ordered them with my Trigun DVDs, so I got free shipping, and I know they're just trying to cut back on their shipping costs by mailing the order in as few packages as possible, but I can't help it! I feel like a heroin junkie looking for her next fix. *laughs*

Well, hopefully the order I placed yesterday will be in soon. Right Stuf was having a sale on in-stock items, so most of what I ordered was, of course, in-stock: Vash and Wolfwood keychains (so cute!), NANA 10, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles 17, and Full Moon wo Sagashite 3, 5-7. Only Vol. 4 of Full Moon and Vol. 12 of xxxHolic are backordered, and I'm crossing my fingers that they either get in soon or don't hold up the rest of my order.

I NEED NEW MANGA!!!!!!

Yay!

The Trigun DVDs I ordered from Right Stuf's Geneon sale came in today! I can't wait to watch it again.

Unfortunately, the two manga volumes I ordered are still on backorder. :( Oh, well, I guess that'll give me time to reread Absolute Boyfriend and Yurara before the last volumes come in.

Thanks to Right Stuf's current Geneon sale, I just ordered all of Trigun for only $40! *dances* I never thought I would find it so cheap. And, actually, with this purchase, I officially have all the anime series I've seriously been meaning to collect so far. Whoo!

I also ordered the last volumes for both Absolute Boyfriend and Yurara. ^_^

So, thanks to [profile] lunaludusand [profile] mythopoet_blue's input -- thanks, guys! -- I decided that instead of getting the nine episode Fushigi Yugi OAV (which was a little too expensive for the $100 Visa gift card I used anyway), my money would be better spent on other things (namely manga).

I ordered:

Fullmetal Alchemist Boxset 3
Fullmetal Alchemist Boxset 4
Fruits Basket Vol. 19
Someday's Dreamers: Spellbound Vol. 5
Legend of Chun Hyang manga
The One I Love manga
Marriage DVD
Full Metal Panic Ani-Mini DVD

Yeah, I know I said I wouldn't start any new manga series until after I finished collecting Someday's Dreamers: Spellbound (which I'm finishing with this order), Absolute Boyfriend, and Yurara, but The One I Love and Legend of Chun Hyang are both one-shots, so I say that they don't really count. :P (Besides, they're CLAMP!) As for the last two, Marriage is a single-disc anime title that I've been eyeing for a while, since the summary sounded interesting and the price was right (only nine dollars, so even if it sucks, it's not big deal), while I mainly just got the ani-mini DVD because it was cheap ($.99) and I had a little over a dollar left on the card. *laughs*

Yes, I did end up splurging again on manga, just like I predicted. *laughs* But it was a guilt free splurge. My parents' tax refund came in, so Mom gave me and my sister fifty dollars to spend today at the mall. That meant I didn't have to dip into my savings after all. Yay!

The loot:

Fushigi Yugi: Genbu Kaiden Vol. 6
NANA Vol. 9
Suppli Vol. 2
xxxHolic Vol. 11
Yurara Vol. 4

That was pretty much everything on my list, except for the one volume I really wanted: the last Someday's Dreamers: Spellbound. :( Oh, well, I'll get it eventually.

Okay, so after my last mini-splurge on manga at the end of January, I told myself that I was going to take a break from buying manga for a while, since I had pretty much depleted all my spending money.

And I was doing good, too. I didn't buy a single manga in February.

But then, last Saturday, Mom asked me to order her a book from the Barnes & Noble website that she wanted and said I could order a book as well. Of course, I wasn't about to pass up an offer like that, so I ordered Vol. 4 and 6 (which I bought with my own money) of xxxHolic.

Buying one volume was fine, I told myself. With those two volumes, I would finally have the first eight volumes of xxxHolic, which I thought would tide me over for a while.

I was wrong.

I just had to tempt myself by going to Right Stuf. I tried to resist the urge, but it was just too strong, and, of course, they were having a sale.

Seven Emma volumes for only $6.66 each. (I also ordered Vol. 2 of Yurara, which I was missing.)

Needless to say, my spending wallet is empty yet again.

I'm too weak.

Man, isn't it annoying when you go to a bookstore to buy some new manga and they don't have the volumes you want? I went to Waldenbooks today, intending to buy the next three volumes of xxxHolic (4-6) I need, but the only one they had of the three was Vol. 5, so I ended up getting that, along with Vol. 7 and 8. Plus, since they were having a buy four manga, get one free sale, I also got Vol. 1 and 3 (2 was missing) of a new title called Yurara that I thought looked pretty interesting.

What really annoyed me though is that Waldenbooks didn't have Emma either. After looking for it at my last trip to Barnes & Noble, I was so hoping that Waldenbooks would have it. :( It's strange that neither had it in stock, considering that I've heard a lot of good things about it. Seems like it would be a pretty popular title, but I guess it's possible that it is so popular that they can't keep them in stock (although I don't think I've ever seen it at either store). Oh, well, I suppose I can just order it through Right Stuf if I have to.

(Edit: I'm so glad that I decided not to get Marmalade Boy. I was very tempted, since it's by the same mangaka who wrote Ultramaniac, Cherish, and Kimi Shika Iranai, but I knew that it was a rather old title and it was missing some volumes. Turns out that Right Stuf no longer sells it and the B&N website only has previously owned copies, so I dodged a bullet there. It would suck to buy a portion of the series, only to find out you couldn't buy the rest (although I may look into these previously owned copies at B&N).)
