30 Day Manga/Anime Meme - Day 10
Jul. 24th, 2012 07:16 pm10. A manga/anime that makes you fluffy and happy when you read/watch it
All the way through? I can think of plenty of series that have a lot of happy, fluffy episodes (Card Captor Sakura, Sailor Moon, Ouran High School Host Club, Ultramaniac, and A Little Snow Fairy Sugar immediately come to mind), but they have their more drama-filled episodes as well. Hmm, maybe Aria? It's been a while since I watched it, though, so I can't really remember. Either that, or Azumanga Daioh. Those two are probably the closest to being pure fluffy happiness.

Missing volumes
Jan. 20th, 2008 05:05 pmWhat really annoyed me though is that Waldenbooks didn't have Emma either. After looking for it at my last trip to Barnes & Noble, I was so hoping that Waldenbooks would have it. :( It's strange that neither had it in stock, considering that I've heard a lot of good things about it. Seems like it would be a pretty popular title, but I guess it's possible that it is so popular that they can't keep them in stock (although I don't think I've ever seen it at either store). Oh, well, I suppose I can just order it through Right Stuf if I have to.
(Edit: I'm so glad that I decided not to get Marmalade Boy. I was very tempted, since it's by the same mangaka who wrote Ultramaniac, Cherish, and Kimi Shika Iranai, but I knew that it was a rather old title and it was missing some volumes. Turns out that Right Stuf no longer sells it and the B&N website only has previously owned copies, so I dodged a bullet there. It would suck to buy a portion of the series, only to find out you couldn't buy the rest (although I may look into these previously owned copies at B&N).)
I can't decide!
Jan. 3rd, 2008 10:19 amRight Stuf just put all the individual (7) DVDs of Ultramaniac in their Bargain Bin, at $9.99 each, which means I could get the whole series for about $70. It's expensive, sure, but not as ridiculously expensive as the boxset, which is about $110. The problem is, I kind of gave up hope of ever owning it because of the high price. That's why I decided to buy the manga instead. I was planning to save my money to buy the last two boxsets of Fullmetal Alchemist, Diamond Daydreams, and possibly the X TV series, so I'm not sure if I can justify it to myself to spend $70 on a series I wasn't originally planning to buy. I mean, if the discs were more like $5.99 each, I would snap it up in a heartbeat, but at $9.99, it's just a good deal, not a great one. *sigh* And if I do want to snap it up, I should probably do it soon. There are only a certain amount left in stock for each disc (a couple which are already down in the teens), and while sometimes they'll order more, since it is a Geneon title, I'm not sure if they will be able to.
*tears out hair*
Yay, sale! Plus, a dilemma

*dances around happily*
I'm really glad I decided to buy it at Best Buy. The retail price was about $60, Right Stuf had it for $54, but it was only $45 at Best Buy, $40 after I used a five dollar coupon. Whee! That was still a bit on the expensive side in my opinion, considering it's one of those thin packs stripped of all the extras and stuff, but, oh, well. It's Kaleido Star!
Now, maybe I'll be inspired to get back to work on my two Kaleido Star fics -- my multi-part and the crossover with SuperS -- neither which I've worked on for the past few weeks.
Recently, my mom got a J.C. Penney's credit card in the mail, so, today, we decided to go to the mall to "try it out," as my mom kept saying. As it turned out, we picked a really good day to go because they were having some really fantastic sales and markdowns. Can you believe I managed to find a ninety dollar pantsuit for only ten dollars? O.o Crazy, isn't it? I have to admit that it's not something I would normally buy for myself, although it is quite cute, but I just couldn't pass up such a great bargain.
I mean, it was a ninety dollar pantsuit for ten dollars, for crying out loud!
*laughs*
And that's not all I got! In addittion to the pantsuit, I got:
- A purple skirt (Orig. $40, marked down to $19.99)
- A graphic-patterned blouse (Orig. $40, marked down to $19.99)
- Platinum-plated amethyst and diamond earrings (Orig. $60, marked down to $19.99)
- 18KT gold-plated sapphire and diamond earrings (Orig. $60, marked down to $19.99)
All together, I calculated I got $290 worth of clothes and jewelry for somewhere around $90! And that's not even including the 15% we got off our entire purchase because it was the first time Mom used the card. Together with Mom's things -- she also got a great deal on a $80 dress, marked down to ten, plus some other sale items -- we saved well over $300!
Amazing, huh? ^_^
I also picked up Vol. 4 of Ultramaniac and Vol. 10 of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles from Waldenbooks while we were there, of course.
My one letdown today was due to a ditzy moment from me. >.< Just when we were about to leave to go to the mall, I looked up at our calender and noticed that today was the fourth. I remember thinking there was something really off about that, but I was just too excited to care because I thought I would be able to buy the Kaleido Star Season 2 boxset that's coming out on Sept. 4th. Well, as you all know, today is actually the first. I was looking at August since we hadn't switched over to Septenber yet! *laughs* Oh, well, Mom says she'll take me to next weekend to buy it, so I suppose I can wait that long to get it.
As Sora might say, "Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!"
My silly sister and manga
Aug. 20th, 2007 09:10 pmWe just got back a little while ago, and, of course, me being me, I had to buy some manga. Spent more than I wanted, actually, considering I'm trying to save up money for the Season 2 Kaleido Star boxset. (Bad Yume! >.<)I originally only planned to buy Vol. 10 of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, but they were out of stock, so I decided to go ahead and buy two volumes of the Ultramaniac manga instead. I finished watching the anime last weekend and fell in love with it, but since the boxset is over a hundred dollars, I figured that getting the five volume manga was a better investment.`Then, just as we were leaving, Mom pointed out an Omnibus Edition of the Magic Knight Rayearth manga that I failed to notice the first time I went through the store. I have to admit, the MKR manga wasn't something I particularly wanted; I already own the anime, and while I liked the first couple of chapters I read a long time ago in Mixxzine, it wasn't something I was really interested in reading. However, just like with Tsubasa, the Omnibus Edition, containing the first three volumes for under $10, was just too good a deal to pass up, so I ended up buying that as well.
So, yeah. I just started collecting two more series, on top of the six others I've already been buying! >.< Luckily, I'm almost finished with Absolute Boyfriend, and both MKR and Ultramaniac are short series that are already completely translated, but still...
I have a sickness. I really do. *laughs*
Resurrecting an old meme

[x]Tell me what you think my strengths as a writer are.
Wow, with all those challenge entries, it really makes it look like I've written a lot.
In other news, Ultramaniac is an adorable series. ^_^ It kind of got off to a slow start, but now things are really picking up. I think it has the potential to become one of my new favorites. (For those who don't know what it is about, it is about this teenage witch from the Magic Kingdom named Nina who is sent to the Human World to train her powers and find the five Holy Stones so that she can become princess of the kingdom.)
Also, Against the Rules just reached over one hundred reviews over at ff.net. Yay!
