Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it. ^_^

I've been debating for weeks whether or not to do my usual Christmas loot list, since the economy is bad and I know some people reading this are having a rough time, but I've seen a couple of people on my FL posting theirs, so I guess I'll do mine, too. Besides, it's tradition, and I like having a record of my gifts. Just skip if you'd like. My mom always goes totally overboard when it comes to Christmas presents.

So, yeah, it was a nice haul, especially with the Sims expansion packs. *laughs* I really was starting to get a little bored with what I had, but...oh, well. The addiction continues, I guess. ^_^ (And I'm thinking of buying a couple more tomorrow when Mom and I hit the post-Christmas sales. Wal-mart is selling expansion packs for only $15, and I really want Bon Voyage.)

My only disappointment (besides no manga) was that I wasn't able to see Sarah Brightman perform during the Disney parade. :( We had to leave for church before she performed. They're supposed to have videos of all the performers on their website, but I haven't been able to find it yet. *sigh*

I don't know what it is, but, lately, I keep managing to buy things on sale without actually realizing that they were on sale. ^_^ Last Friday, Mom and I went to Wal-mart to get stuff for Thanksgiving dinner, and I decided to spend the thirty dollars I (finally) got for my birthday to buy the new Celine Dion CD and Josh Groban's Christmas album (both which are fabulous, by the way). They were both originally around $14, but when I got up to the register, I found out the Celine CD was actually on sale for $10. Then, today when we went back to Wal-mart after church, I decided to get a couple of cheap video games for my GBA: Castlevania (NES Classic) and a Pac-man cartridge with four different Pac-man games. Those were priced as being $15, which I already thought was a good deal, but again when they rung up, they were on sale for ten.

Man, I hope this streak lasts when I start buying Christmas presents! *laughs*

New chapter of 4200 posted! I'm about to go to church, so I only had time to scan it, but I did find out who the new Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Kamen are.

Time to leave. More thoughts later.

EDIT: Okay, back from church. I've scanned it a little more, and I must say that was unexpected.

Heh, maybe it'll make more sense when I actually read the chapter, rather than just scanning it. *laughs* I think I'll go do that now.

Just got in from the Easter Vigil at my church, where I was confirmed and had my first communion. The ceremony was long -- almost two hours -- but very beautiful. At one point, I was almost in tears.

It's funny, but even though my mom and my aunt called each other to make sure they didn't buy me the same gift, due to a misunderstanding, they both got me cross pendants. The one from my parents was silver with cubic zirconia accents, and the one from my uncle (who was my sponsor) and aunt was gold and diamonds. They were both beautiful, though, so I didn't mind. ^_^ Deacon Steve and Patsy, who were in charge of the RCIA, also gave all the participants a prayer book.

Afterward, there was a brief reception, where everybody kept begging me to join the choir, which was really flattering. I would love to do so, but since I wouldn't have a ride to practice most of the time, I doubt I will.

In other news, my sister (who wasn't able to come due to work obligations today and tomorrow) called Mom to tell her that it was snowing in Nacogdoches. Yes, you heard me. Snow. In Texas. In April.

Talk about a white Easter!

(And there's a slight chance it will snow here tonight, too, but I doubt it.)

I wonder what are the chances that this cold snap will hold on until next weekend, when we're going up to Nacogdoches for Laura's senior recital. Probably not good, but it would be cool if it did. ^_^

Just got in from Midnight Mass. I'm about to go to sleep, but I want to get down my annual loot list before I do, since we opened gifts like we usually do on Christmas Eve.

I think that's about it. Like I suspected, I didn't get much from my wishlist, but it was still a nice Christmas. ^_^

Czech Fest

Why is it that every time I look forward to something, I always seem to be disappointed when the day finally comes?

I had been looking forward to our church's annual bazaar, the Czech Fest, for the past couple of months. It had been a long time since we had gone, and I remember that it used to be a ton of fun when I was a little girl. Unfortunately, it just wasn't the same. We only stayed for about twenty minutes or so, and out of the $25 Mom gave me to blow, I only spent a dollar at the cake booth. A dollar! That's how lame it was.

Well, it might have been fun if it wasn't so hot and Mom hadn't decided that she wasn't interested in any of the booths that required more than picking numbers and someone spinning a big wheel. Sure, I suppose I could have gone off and played the actual games myself, but Mom clearly wasn't having a good time, so when she suggested we go, I didn't argue.

However, the day wasn't a total bust. After we left the fairgrounds and got groceries, we decided to go to the grand opening of Cato's, which had just moved to a new store, and I got some cute new clothes. ^_^ The $24 I had left? Much better spent on a blue twinset.

(Another disappointment: The Astros lost their last game of the regular season, so they didn't make the play-offs. :( Oh, well, at least I don't have to worry about missing my favorite shows to watch them.)

Last night was my first R.C.I.A. class at church. For those who don't know what that is, it's basically preparation for becoming a member of the Catholic church. I was baptized Catholic, but I never made First Communion or Confirmation, so that's what I'm there for.

The people running the class seem really nice. Deacon Steve is hilarious. We cracked up at least a dozen times, mostly at the expense of Father Brinkman, who came in thirty minutes late despite the deacon telling him several times beforehand that class started at seven. Being so shy, I didn't really talk to any of my classmates, but my mother, who decided to come along just to brush up on things, made fast friends with a woman who had just moved to town.

The only bad thing about this class is that it means I have to miss the Dancing with the Stars results show, along with American Idol's result show when it comes back again. :( Does anybody know who was eliminated last night on DwtS?
