Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it. ^_^

I've been debating for weeks whether or not to do my usual Christmas loot list, since the economy is bad and I know some people reading this are having a rough time, but I've seen a couple of people on my FL posting theirs, so I guess I'll do mine, too. Besides, it's tradition, and I like having a record of my gifts. Just skip if you'd like. My mom always goes totally overboard when it comes to Christmas presents.

The Loot )
So, yeah, it was a nice haul, especially with the Sims expansion packs. *laughs* I really was starting to get a little bored with what I had, but...oh, well. The addiction continues, I guess. ^_^ (And I'm thinking of buying a couple more tomorrow when Mom and I hit the post-Christmas sales. Wal-mart is selling expansion packs for only $15, and I really want Bon Voyage.)

My only disappointment (besides no manga) was that I wasn't able to see Sarah Brightman perform during the Disney parade. :( We had to leave for church before she performed. They're supposed to have videos of all the performers on their website, but I haven't been able to find it yet. *sigh*

Wow, can you guys believe it's already the 22nd. It feels like Thanksgiving was, like, two minutes ago, and now there's only two days left until Christmas Eve (when my family opens presents). Where has the time gone?! Seriously.

Oh, right, I spent most of it playing Sims. *laughs*

But I've done very little of the things I usually do before Christmas. I've only listened to a couple of my many Christmas CDs (btw, got Sarah Brightman's yesterday -- fabulous!), watched only one Christmas movie, not counting the usual TV specials (my fave -- the remake of Miracle on 34th Street), haven't read the Snow Princess Kaguya manga side story or watched the Sailor Moon S movie (not to mention all the other anime Christmas episodes I usually watch), or read any Christmas fanfics. This isn't right. -_-

Well, I guess it's better late than never, huh? I think today I'll listen to Christmas music all day long, read the Snow Princess Kaguya story, and reread some Christmas fanfic classics -- namely Lianne and Amethist's Psychotic Sailor Moon Christmas Carols and [livejournal.com profile] sophiap 's As God is My Witness, I Thought Turkeys Could Fly...". Then tomorrow I can have an anime Christmas marathon.

Yeah, sounds like a plan.  I think that's what I'll do. ^_^

Want new anime for Christmas? May I shamelessly promote Right Stuf's fantastic deal on the Kaleido Star two season boxset?

Originally $89.98, you can now get the whole series for under fifty dollars -- $48.99, to be exact. (Just a penny short of getting free shipping, but with all the great stuff they have, I'm sure you could find something else if you really want it. *laughs*) That's even cheaper than the second season boxset and just a little more expensive than the first!  (I paid way more for my two boxsets and was happy to do so, which is saying something from someone who is always on the lookout for the best deals on anime.) And it's an awesome series to boot! I highly recommend it. After all, it's my favorite anime series of all time for a reason. ^_~

*wants more fans on her FL*

On an unrelated note, I just found out that Sarah Brightman is performing during the Disney Christmas Day parade. Merry Christmas to me! Normally I don't care about the Disney parade, but I'll definitely be watching this year! (Edit: I also just found out she put out a Christmas album last month. Man, I wish I had known this earlier! The season is almost over. :( Oh, well, I'm still getting it. It's not like I care about the proper time to listen to Christmas music! *laughs*)

01. Pick five of your favorite singers/groups.
02. Go to
Last.fm or Wikipedia and look up their biographies.
03. Post at least one interesting fact for each singer/group.
04. Tag five people on your f-list to do the same thing.

As for tagging...do it if you want.

Now, to the squeeing!

First off, my Emma manga volumes came in on Tuesday, and I finished reading them yesterday. Blue, thank you for recommending it to me! ^_^ I loved it, loved it, loved it! The ending was a little weak, in my opinion, but the rest was near perfection. I do believe I'll give it the number three spot on my favorite manga list, just behind Chobits and Fruits Basket.

This week, I also finished watching the Peach Girl anime, which I've been renting from Netflix. I've heard a lot of bad reviews for it, especially compared to the manga, but I actually really loved it, in a guilty pleasure kind of way. *laughs* It kind of makes me want to check out the "superior" manga, but considering that it's eighteen volumes long and I already have a "to read" list that's a mile long, I think it's probably better on my wallet if I just stick to getting the boxset, which just came out a couple of weeks ago. (Good timing!) Just need to scrounge up the money...

The biggest squee of all, though, is...

World Championships on ABC! Tomorrow!

*jumps up and down like a crazy person*

Whoo! You have no idea how excited I am! Three hours of figure skating goodness! Of course, being the fanatic I am, I already know the final results (except for the men's competition, which isn't over yet), but...

Can it be two o'clock tomorrow already?

Happy Valentine's Day!

It's been a pretty good one for me. My parents gave me a tin of peanut butter-filled chocolate bears, some chocolate in the shape of "I (Heart) U", some pretty gold hoop earrings, and best of all, Sarah Brightman's new CD, Symphony! Yay! I've been listening to it practically all day long. ^_^ I don't know if it's exactly my favorite of her CDs, but there are some wonderful duets with Andrea Bocelli, Alessandro Safina, Fernando Lima, and Paul Stanley.

*sings along with Fleurs Du Mal*

(Note: Since probably 80% of this list would actually be her Broadway numbers, I decided to stick with non-Broadway songs since they're more hers, which is why Music of the Night -- my all-time favorite -- isn't on there. Also, her new CD came out on Tuesday! Whee! I can't wait to get it. ^_^)

Make a list of everything you would like to receive for Christmas. Yes, Christmas is supposed to be a time of giving and thinking of others, but we’re all guilty of experiencing those greedy gimmies. So why not give in to it, if just for a moment? The list can be short or long. It can be as simple or as outrageous as you want it to be. You can list what you actually asked for, create an ultimate wish list, or a mixture of both. It’s all up to you!

I guess that's about it. Makes me wonder what is under the tree since I never got the chance to give Mom my list before she announced she had finished her shopping and I doubt she knew I wanted most of the stuff on the list. Guess that means she spent a lot of money on stuff I don't want. *sigh*
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
Man, they didn't have the Evangelion boxset I wanted in stock at Best Buy. That's the whole reason I had Mom take me shopping today, so I could buy it. All they had were the movie boxsets and single discs (which are surprisingly only about $12, but even as cheap as they are, I'm holding out for the boxset). Oh, well, at least the trip wasn't a total waste. I managed to find a hard-to-find Celine Dion French album I've been wanting, and at Barnes & Noble, I picked up Vol. 12 of Fruits Basket and Vol. 2 and 3 of the RahXephon manga. I also picked up a couple of $50 B&N gift cards so I would have them on hand whenever I had the urge to shop online. Almost finished with the first one -- I just ordered Vol. 9 of Fruits Basket, Vol. 1 of RahXephon, and an impossible to find Sarah Brightman CD -- but the other one will probably be saved until the Someday's Dreamers manga comes out.

Instructions: List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your Livejournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

01. "You are Water" by Hayley Westenra
02. "My Confession" by Josh Groban
03. "Dream a Dream" by Charlotte Church and Billy Gilman
04. "Music of the Night" by Sarah Brightman
05. "Confidence for Quiet" by The Corrs
06. "The Prayer" by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion
07. "All I Want for Christmas is You" by Mariah Carey

As for tagging... Well, I only have seven other people on my Friends list other than Kerry, so if you're on the list, consider yourself tagged. ^_^ (Or not. I don't care.)
heavenly_pearl: (Default)
First off, I gotta wish a "Happy Birthday" to the coolest of all the senshi -- Sailor Pluto. Wonder how old she is this year... ^_^ I almost forgot about it, but last night I was looking over reviews for my old stories, trying to pump myself up, and I came across Tick Tock, the story I wrote in honor of her special day a couple of years ago, which reminded me of the fact.

So, what did I do on this special day? Oh, nothing much. I got the fourth DVD of RahXephon in the mail today, which was really good. I've already watched it twice -- once in Japanese and the other time in English. It actually has a pretty decent dub. (Don't go having another heart attack, Samuraiter. I still prefer the original. :P) The episode with Helena, Itsuki, and Makoto as children was interesting, and kinda cute. ^_^ I've also taken a real shining to Yagumo Soichi. He's mostly been in the background for most of the show, but he had some really nice moments in the episodes I watched today. I think he, Ayato, and Itsuki might make it into my little Harem of Bishies by the end of the show.

I also bought a new CD, Hayley Westenra's Odyssey. If you've never heard of her, she's this New Zealand teenager with the absolute most beautiful voice I've ever heard in my life. Next to Josh Groban's Closer, her Pure CD is my most listened to album. I'm not sure if the new CD is quite as good as the first, but it's definitely a worthy companion. She even makes What You Never Know (Won't Hurt You), a rather boring number from Sarah Brightman's otherwise stellar Harem album, something worth listening to.

I find it somewhat amusing, though, that it seems like all my favorite singers like to duet with my other favorite singers. (Not that I'm complaining. ^_^) On this CD, Westenra does a beautiful duet version of Dell' Amore Non Si Sa with the original singer of the piece, Andrea Bocelli. He, of course, has also dueted with Sarah Brightman (on Time to Say Goodbye) and Celine Dion, on The Prayer, which was then covered by Charlotte Church and Josh Groban, the latter who has also sung with the Corrs on Canta Alla Vita. It's like the Six Degrees of Andrea Bocelli in the world of classical crossover and Europop! (I tend to think of Dion as Europop because of her French albums, which definitely have a Europop feel.) *laughs*

Anyway, I guess that's about it for today.
