Man, they didn't have the Evangelion boxset I wanted in stock at Best Buy. That's the whole reason I had Mom take me shopping today, so I could buy it. All they had were the movie boxsets and single discs (which are surprisingly only about $12, but even as cheap as they are, I'm holding out for the boxset). Oh, well, at least the trip wasn't a total waste. I managed to find a hard-to-find Celine Dion French album I've been wanting, and at Barnes & Noble, I picked up Vol. 12 of Fruits Basket and Vol. 2 and 3 of the RahXephon manga. I also picked up a couple of $50 B&N gift cards so I would have them on hand whenever I had the urge to shop online. Almost finished with the first one -- I just ordered Vol. 9 of Fruits Basket, Vol. 1 of RahXephon, and an impossible to find Sarah Brightman CD -- but the other one will probably be saved until the Someday's Dreamers manga comes out.

Oh, I know exactly how you feel. I went into town to donate blood with my father on Wednesday (a total waste of time for both of us, as they decided he shouldn't couldn't donate because of his medication, and I didn't have enough iron in my blood). I went into Waterstones and asked for a particular book. Did they have it? No. The other bookshop had it, but I didn't have vouchers for the other bookshop. Oh well, I'll try again tomorrow.

There's also the Limited Edition Rahxephon movie ArtBox plus the series Thinpak at an awesome price. That last offer really has me thorn whether I should buy it because I already have the series with the movie but the Artbox and 52 page booklet are tempting me. BTW, is the manga any good?

3. The character everyone else loves that I don't - Ishiki, I guess. I don't think he's very popular, but he's really the only one I can think of that I really don't like.

6. The character I used to dislike but don't any longer - Kunugi

7. The character I would shag anytime - Itsuki, Ayato, Souichi

8. The character I'd want to be like - Haruka

Thanks for the link, but the auction on that has already closed and the boxset I saw at Best Buy was actually a little bit cheaper than that and I wouldn't have to pay shipping and handling.

The RahXephon manga... Well, I haven't read the first volume yet, but the rest of it was pretty good. Not as great as the anime, but good enough on its own merits. It's a lot simpler to understand, and there aren't as many strange character relations.

(SPOILERS) For example, Itsuki and Ayato? It might have been stated in the volume I haven't read, but it doesn't look like they're twin brothers. Also, Ayato and Haruka don't have a romantic relationship. The main romance focus is on Ayato and Reika, who is actually the reincarnation of Ixtli -- the miko and first pilot of RahXephon.

If the Eva boxset is the Perfect Collection it is indeed a bargain, although the one in the auction was pretty good considering it is the newly released Platinum Edition, with better audio and video and more extras. Still, if you see the prices at Suncoast of The Right Stuf.com, you'll fall from your chair (I almost did). I wish I had a Best Buy around but guess there's has to be a downside for living in an almost all year round summer island.

Reika a reincarnation of Ixtli and also an intrumentalist? Now that's quite a change! I noticed that there's also Rah novels but I'm not sure if they're a novel version of the anime of if they follow the manga. Guess I'll have to do some research on that to find out.

The one I saw was the Platinum Collection, like in the auction. At Best Buy, they were selling them for about $58, which was about a dollar cheaper than the auction price. I know what you mean about ridiculous prices, though. At Barnes & Noble's website, the same set goes for around eighty dollars, which is why I'm just going to be patient and wait until Best Buy gets them back in stock. (Too bad you don't have a Best Buy around. They have fantastic prices on their anime.)

Yeah, Reika has a rather interesting story in the manga. Back in the time of the MU, Ixtli was chosen to be the miko/pilot of RahXephon and was supposed to wish something like happiness for the Mu or something like that. Something went wrong, though, and from that point on, she's been continuously reincarnated and fated to die on her 17th birthday. In her current life, she's been living as a kind of roommate with Ayato, but though she's in love with him, he really only thinks of her as a sister and is going out with Asahina. (No Mamoru in sight, as far as I know, though he might be in the first volume.) I won't ruin the ending, but it's really quite sweet. ^_^
