Day 30 – Do you have a favorite fic you've written? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link!
Man, I always dread this question because it's like asking a parent to choose a favorite child. Certainly, there are some stories I like better than others, but it's difficult to settle on a single, definitive favorite.
So why bother only picking one? Let's do Top 10 favorites! (In no real particular order.)
1. Against the Rules (Sailor Moon) - By far my most popular story, and I like to think I pulled off the student/teacher romance better than the story that inspired it. Plus, I just love Akira, Izumi, Yui, and the rest!
2. Spirit of Fire (Sailor Moon) - I would probably consider this my breakout story, the one to really put me (kinda) on the map in fandom. I loved writing about Rei and her family.
3. Taboo (Sailor Moon) - Yummy Pluto/Endymion angst. 'Nough said.
4. The Night Before (Sailor Moon) - Technically a Mamoru/Usagi fic, but that didn't stop me from including some Mamoru/Setsuna goodness. I'm also pretty proud of the "time is a tree" metaphor I included.
5. To Be By Your Side (Sailor Moon) - Ever since I began writing fanfiction, I've always wanted to write one really great Helios/Chibi-Usa story. Out of all the H/C stories I've written, I feel this one comes closest to that goal. (Although there's still room for improvement. Maybe my vampire AU will manage to top it.)
6. Kiss Me (Fruits Basket) - One of my most popular one-shots, made all the more surprising since it was the first FB fic I ever wrote. I just love the pairing of Hatori/Mayuko, though, and I think it came out really well.
7. Machiavelli's Folly (Sailor Moon) - Well, first off, I just love the title. I'm ridiculously proud of it, but I also really like the story itself. Probably the deepest story I've ever written, it tackles the question, "Does the means justify the end?"
8. Pillow Talk (Kaleido Star) - Hmm, I'm not sure why I like this story so much, to be honest. I just do.
9. Vision (Card Captor Sakura) - This was the first fic I wrote that wasn't for the Sailor Moon fandom, so it's memorable for that, but beyond that fact, it was fun to write about child!Touya and toddler!Sakura.
10. Melting Ice (Kaleido Star) - This story blends together two of my favorite things -- figure skating and Kaleido Star -- so how can I not love it?
