When I first decided to try writing a Someday's Dreamers fic, I was under the impression that it would be pretty easy. I mean, the series is fairly straight forward and easy-to-understand, and most of the characters aren't terribly deep (it was only a twelve episode series, after all), though they are interesting. It's not like Sailor Moon, where there are complicated plots and equally complicated characters. Writing a good Someday's Dreamers should have been a simple affair, right?

Wrong.

Well, that's not entirely true. I am almost finished with the story. Ten pages are already written, and I'm not expecting there to be much more. Probably twenty at the most. I'm expecting to be done by the end of next week, if not earlier. The problem is that the story is so. incredibly. boring. Seriously, it reads like a children's book, and I'm not talking about Harry Potter. More like Sweet Valley Twins and The Babysitter's Club. Or actually maybe a fairy tale like Cinderella. Now that I think about it, I can actually see some similarities between the two, especially since Yume (with some help from Kera and Runa) is, for all intents and purposes, playing Milinda's fairy godmother for her first date with Oyamada-sensei.

Oh, why did I pick the WAFF-y idea? I could have had some delicious angst with the Angela/Inoue idea or maybe even something with Oyamada-sensei and his tragic past with Takako or Kera's life as an orphan, but I just had to go with the sweet romance. I don't like writing fluff; I have no idea why I thought it would be easy to write a good fluffy fic. (It's definitely easy to write fluff, just not interesting fluff.)

It also doesn't help that, as one of the first to start writing in the fandom, I don't have many other stories to compare with mine. I have no idea if I'm writing Milinda right... Actually, I'm almost certain that I'm writing her OOC. Milinda is vivacious and almost always speaks her mind; she probably wouldn't be so hesitant to tell Oyamada-sensei how she really feels about him. (Heck, when she introduces herself to Yume, she calls herself his girlfriend (which she isn't, at least in the anime. In the manga, they had a child together, conceived during a one-night stand), and she's the only one who calls him Masami-chan.) But then again, she has been in love with him for almost a decade. That's a long time to wait for a person, and I don't think it would be easy for anybody to confess their love after so long. What if the other person doesn't return your feelings? Then you would have wasted ten years of your life for nothing. That's a rather scary thing to face.

I don't know...

I need to get back to work now. Enough procrastinating. ^_^
