This isn't the first time I've asked this, but CCS fandom, why do you fail so much? I wanted to nominate
sophiap's fabulous Velveteen for the UFO awards, so I went to ff.net to find some other stories to nominate with it. You know how many I liked of the qualified (over-1000 word stories that were completed in 2007) stories?
Two.
And even those weren't really the greatest. I mostly just nominated them so that CCS would have a chance of being a category in the awards (provided somebody seconds the nominations). *sigh* I think I may go looking for LJ communities this weekend and see if there's anything worthier out there.
On the plus side, I did find quite a few Princess Tutu fics I liked. There are some really great writers in the fandom, even if everybody and their mother tends to write
As for the writing side... I don't know what it is, but I just cannot seem to get back in the groove of things. I've been working on my entry for .moon's winter challenge for about two weeks now, and it's still not finished, which is pathetic because there's a two thousand word limit. It should have been finished by the second or third day, not the second or third week! I only have about 150 words left before I reach the limit, so I'm definitely going to try to finish today, but that doesn't change the fact that I just plain don't like it. *sigh*
I've also been trying to work a little on my KS multi-part (which definitely needs a concrete title, because I'm tired of referring to it as the KS multi-part). Good news is that I think I finally have a clear idea of where the story is going to go. Bad news is that I'm having the same problem of not being able to write. I'm thinking it might help if I go ahead and start posting the story. The reason I'm having trouble writing it might be the fact that I don't have anybody to discuss the story with -- I only know one other person who has seen Kaleido Star, and I don't have editor for the story -- so if I start posting the story and get some positive feedback, I might get some of my confidence back. I don't know, though... If I do start posting it, it'll mean I'll be committing myself to finishing the story, since I hate it when posted stories remain unfinished (and I don't believe in taking stories down except in a few rare circunstances). I definitely want to finish the story. I do think it has the potential to be one of the best in the fandom, but... I just don't know if I can keep myself interested when I feel so isolated from other fans.
Trying to break into new fandoms sucks. :(

on 2008-01-30 03:19 am (UTC)Oh! You know what I just remembered? I actually first published that Tutu fic in December. [And there are timestamps on the comments to prove it! I just, erm, forgot to put it in the pit until way later.]

As for Kaleido Star, you know I highly recommend it. ^_~ Although it looks like Right Stuf only has half of the first season left and is missing one disc for the second season. It might be cheaper to get the boxsets, in that case, rather than getting what they have and try to find the missing discs.
