This isn't the first time I've asked this, but CCS fandom, why do you fail so much? I wanted to nominate [personal profile] sophiap's fabulous Velveteen for the UFO awards, so I went to ff.net to find some other stories to nominate with it. You know how many I liked of the qualified (over-1000 word stories that were completed in 2007) stories?

Two.

And even those weren't really the greatest. I mostly just nominated them so that CCS would have a chance of being a category in the awards (provided somebody seconds the nominations). *sigh* I think I may go looking for LJ communities this weekend and see if there's anything worthier out there.

On the plus side, I did find quite a few Princess Tutu fics I liked. There are some really great writers in the fandom, even if everybody and their mother tends to write
post-series stories about Ahiru becoming human again
.

As for the writing side... I don't know what it is, but I just cannot seem to get back in the groove of things. I've been working on my entry for .moon's winter challenge for about two weeks now, and it's still not finished, which is pathetic because there's a two thousand word limit. It should have been finished by the second or third day, not the second or third week! I only have about 150 words left before I reach the limit, so I'm definitely going to try to finish today, but that doesn't change the fact that I just plain don't like it. *sigh*

I've also been trying to work a little on my KS multi-part (which definitely needs a concrete title, because I'm tired of referring to it as the KS multi-part). Good news is that I think I finally have a clear idea of where the story is going to go. Bad news is that I'm having the same problem of not being able to write. I'm thinking it might help if I go ahead and start posting the story. The reason I'm having trouble writing it might be the fact that I don't have anybody to discuss the story with -- I only know one other person who has seen Kaleido Star, and I don't have editor for the story -- so if I start posting the story and get some positive feedback, I might get some of my confidence back. I don't know, though... If I do start posting it, it'll mean I'll be committing myself to finishing the story, since I hate it when posted stories remain unfinished (and I don't believe in taking stories down except in a few rare circunstances). I definitely want to finish the story. I do think it has the potential to be one of the best in the fandom, but... I just don't know if I can keep myself interested when I feel so isolated from other fans.

Trying to break into new fandoms sucks. :(

*waves* Apparently mine was one of the PT stories you liked? You, erm, put it down as one of your favorite stories, so, um, thanks! ^^;;;

And, yes, breaking into a new fandom can be quite the hassle. (Though I think I usually wind up being more of the "drop the story and run far, far away" type...)

Yes, it was. ^_^ Actually, your story was the reason why I went looking for more PT fics, because I wanted to nominate it for the UFOs, but then I remembered that it's not eligible this year. :( Oh, well. I found some good stories because of it, and I'll definitely nominate it next year.

!! Hypothetical future nomination! I'm flattered! and a tiny bit freaked out, but that's just me so, um, yes.

Heh, were you the one venting on .moon about having wierdo fans who kept proposing to you?

Well, you don't have to worry about me. I'm totally normal. Promise.

Erm, yes. ^_^ That was me. And it's not that they're weirdos, it's just - gah, I'm not *that* awesome a writer, so...

Hooray, normality! Maybe! ^_^

Oh! You know what I just remembered? I actually first published that Tutu fic in December. [And there are timestamps on the comments to prove it! I just, erm, forgot to put it in the pit until way later.]

Hee hee. I've written one of those aforementioned Ahiru stories, too. :-) I guess it's the obvious choice for a first PT fic. :D

I believe this site's the only place I submitted it to. The formatting's a little odd... but I hope you enjoy it. ^_^

I swear I didn't steal your writing mojo! ^_^; For some reason, most folks around me are having lots of trouble writing, but I haven't been. Very strange.

And new fandoms are unexplored territory. Always fun to see what's out there, IMO.

*suspicious look*

Are you sure? You did finish that novel of yours in record time...

*laughs*

Yay for new fandoms! I love you and your nominations :D

And one of these days I'm going to buy Kaleido Star, I really am. Hmm, it's in the current RightStuf sale... *is tempted*

Thanks! ^_^ I only hope some of these fandoms make it to the second round. I think I need to pimp out the awards some more. I already have a link in my FF.net profile, but I can make announcements at my writing journal and KS community, and at my websites...

*predicts a busy weekend*

As for Kaleido Star, you know I highly recommend it. ^_~ Although it looks like Right Stuf only has half of the first season left and is missing one disc for the second season. It might be cheaper to get the boxsets, in that case, rather than getting what they have and try to find the missing discs.

Ah, I might do that, then. Of course, that probably means I'll procrastinate more. ^^;

Too bad you didn't catch the beginning of the sale. :( They had all the discs in stock at the start.

It's just as well, I really can't afford this right now anyway.
