Day 26 – What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a fic?

The oddest thing I've researched? Hmm, maybe tasseography? (That would be the reading of tea leaves.) I first looked into it for Written in the Tea Leaves, a short Helios/Chibi-Usa fic I wrote for sm_monthly, but the subject will actually come up again in Melting Ice. (I decided that since Fool used Tarot cards in the first season of Kaleido Star and astrology in the second, tasseography would be his gimmick in MI.) As for the most fun, that would probably be figure skating. Of course, I already knew quite a bit since I'm such a huge fan, but I needed to research the more technical aspects for Melting Ice.
