Hey, I did rather well with my Oscar predictions this year! Officially, I got half (12/24) right, but unofficially, I'm giving myself credit for Original Song and Animated Feature Film since I did say that Adele would win for "Skyfall" (even though I picked "Suddenly" from Les Miserables) and that Brave and Wreck-It Ralph were pretty much a tie for me. Not bad at all! And although Les Miserables didn't take home the big award, I'm pleased that it tied with Life of Pi for winning the most (four) catergories of the night. (BTW, the musical number? A-maz-ing!)

As for the real reason I love the Oscars -- the fashion! -- almost everybody looked great. There were no obvious fashion disasters, although if I had to pick a "Worst Dressed", I'd probably give it to Zoe Saldana. There was just a bit too much going on with her dress, but it wasn't terrible. Anne Hathaway's gown was fine, if a touch boring; I just question her decision to wear it with a necklace. That's just not a style you wear with a necklace. However, I heard on a one of the morning shows that she was originally planning to wear another dress until she heard another actress was wearing something similar, so it's possible that she borrowed that necklace to go with the first gown and wanted to wear it anyway. It would have looked so great with Jennifer Lawrence's dress, IMO. Her dress was pretty, but she looked so bare on top! I think she was wearing a really, really thin necklace, but I would have liked to see her wearing a bolder necklace with that kind of princess-y gown.

The perennial winner of my "Best Dressed" award, Penelope Cruz, didn't attend as far as I know (I didn't see her), so here's a countdown of my Top 5 dresses of the night.

5. Reese Witherspoon in navy and black colorblock -- Funny thing that I also saw on a morning show. They did this segment were someone digitally switched Reese's and Catherine Zeta-Jones's dresses, and they actually did look better in each other's gowns! But I still really liked Reese's dress, no matter who wore it.

4. Salma Hayek in black velvet with a high, gold neckline

3. Charlize Theron in white with a peplum waistline

2. Kristin Chenowith in gold lace during the song for the losers at the end of the show

and *drumroll* the "Best Dressed" Oscar goes to...

1. Halle Berry in that fabulous black, long-sleeved gown with gold/silver stripes. - They looked gold to me on TV, but I read on a website that they were actually silver, so I'm not sure which it is. Either way, she looked amazing!

Runner-ups: Michelle Obama, Naomi Watts, and Octavia Spencer
