Sailor Moon Crystal Episode 9

heavenly_pearlThis review may be a bit brief. I had baby-sitting duties today, and wouldn't you know that my little nephew started crying for his bottle just after the opening credits... So I couldn't really take the time to jot down notes of everything I wanted to talk about like I usually do. Just know that today's episode was AWESOME, and I pretty much loved every single minute of it.
- You know the drill by now...
- Really lovely animation! It's an important episode, so I'm glad they put extra effort into making it look good.
- Gotta say, that is some RAW crying on Kotono Mitsuishi's part. Not the most pleasant sound in the world, but you can definitely hear just how traumatized Usagi is by everything that happens.
- I love the pocketwatching going backwards as Usagi starts to remember.
- Lots of flashes to Silver Millennium memories, but mostly just stuff we had already seen before in Usagi's and Mamoru's dreams. We'll probably get more detailed new scenes next episode when they go to the moon.
- Was that the first time we saw Mercury's visor in Crystal? I think it was. I'm happy to see it, especially since they got rid of her Mercury computer.
- I do kinda wish that we got to see more of the effect of the crystal appearing, other than just flowers blooming and Metallia feeling it. In the manga, we saw it healing things like illnesses, too. Not really necessary, but just something I would have liked to have seen.
- Liked the brief fight between Kunzite and the girls.
- The Shitennou find something familiar about Tuxedo Kamen, but only Kunzite seems to realize who he (and by extention, they) really is. That moment where it briefly looks like he's going to cry when the realization hits is really effective.
- Wow, Beryl is really grotesque in Usagi's nightmare.
- Cute dress!
- I LOVE that Usagi says she's no longer going to be a "tragic princess".
Huh, I remembered more than I thought I did. Well, anyway, Episode 9 was definitely a fantastic early birthday present!
