Since I don't want anybody to get mad at me for spoiling them...

I got two RahXephon DVDs in yesterday from Netflix, and man, things are getting good. It was so sad when Hiroko died, but I didn't really get misty eyed until the last episode of the sixth disc when Kunugi finally got a chance to redeem himself after what happened with his daughter Michiru all those years ago. That was a powerful scene, especially when his ex-wife starting breaking down for what she thought was no reason at all. It's also rather tragic that Kim appears to be pregnant with her boyfriend Souichi's baby. That was something I didn't learn from the spoilers I read, and I have a feeling that something bad's going to happen to at least one of them, if not both. (I think I read that he dies, but I'm not sure what happens to Kim and the baby.) But it wasn't all sad. Loved the part where Haruka drew a funny picture of Makoto when she should have been working. That was hilarious.

The thing that's bugging me, though, is that pretty little tune Quon is always singing. I know I've heard that song before, or at least something with a very similar melody. It's driving me crazy that I can't remember where it's from. I think I may even have it on a CD, but without a title, that's like looking for a needle in a haystack with all the CDs I own. Samuraiter, any ideas?

In other news, I think I'm going to wait to post A Dream Come True at FF.net and ASMR. I still plan to go ahead and post it on my website, since today is the one year anniversary, but I still don't think it's quite ready for the major archives. *sigh* I wish I could get a second opinion on it, but I don't really know many other Someday's Dreamers fans.

I have also been looking for the tune that Quon sings, but ... it is not on either of the extant Rah Xephon OST CDs in its pure form. As for what it is, I have not heard it any other place, so ... your guess is as good as mine.

I also agree that Kunugi earns major points for what he did. That is how you lead. ... He ought to teach Gendou that.

I think I might have found the song that I was thinking of. Upon listening to it again, I'm not sure if it is the same melody as Quon's song, but unfortunately, I already sent the DVDs back, so I have nothing to compare it to until I get another one in.

The recording I have is called "Stranger in Paradise" and is from Sarah Brightman's Harem CD. (If you go to B&N's website and look up the album, you can listen to a snippet of it.) The original melody, however, comes from the Alexander Borodin opera "Prince Igor" and was titled "Polovetsian Dances," which was then adapted for the Broadway musical "Kismet" -- the version she sings, I think.

Yes, it is the "Second Polovtsian Dance" from Prince Igor. I googled "Borodin+RahXephon" and got confirmation.

I knew I wasn't going crazy!

Major points for Yume, in that case. ^_^ Well done!
