Happy New Year!
For my first post of 2009, a look back at 2008 through the traditional year-end fanfiction meme that always pops up around this time.
List of stories for 2008
Sailor Moon
Why Kenji Hates Mamoru and All Teenage Boys
A Father's Regret (SOF extra)
Broken Promise (SOF extra)
Princess Tutu
Search for the Missing Past
Fruits Basket
Playing Doctor
Just Dessert
Harry Potter
Birthday Fool
A Duty to Fight
I think that's all the stuff I wrote in 2008...
And now, the meme:
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Less. Definitely less. Look at that list! Except for Search for the Missing Past, they're all one-shots. -_- Of course, dealing with Hurricane Ike, being without a computer for a few weeks, and the addiction that is Sims 2 did not help my writing at all.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2008?
I never really expected to write a Princess Tutu story, but the Rue idea caught hold of me and wouldn't let me go.
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
I have to say probably Why Kenji Hates Mamoru and All Teenage Boys. Writing Kenji as a horny teenager was fun, and I think it came out fairly well.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
Not particularly, no, unless you want to count writing a PT story a risk, which I don't.
Do you have any fanfic goals for the New Year?
Top goal is definitely to finish Melting Ice, my Kaleido Star story. Come next week, I will force myself off Sims (at least during the day) and get back to work on it. I also would like to finish at least three more stories for my
15pairings claim, and try Nanowrimo again this year.
Those are definite. Other possible goals are to seriously, seriously work on Only Human, and maybe I'll give my SM/Witch Hunter Robin crossover idea a try.
My Favorite Story:
Like I already said, Why Kenji Hates Mamoru and All Teenage Boys.
My Best Story:
Eh, a toss up between Why Kenji Hates Mamoru and All Teenage Boys and Just Dessert, my Shigure/Mayuko fic for
15pairings .
Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe:
Just Dessert, I think. It only got two reviews, although
sea_thoughts ' review made me really happy.
Most Fun:
I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but Why Kenji Hates Mamoru and All Teenage Boys and Just Dessert.
Most Disappointing:
Search for the Missing Past was okay, but it could have been better. Especially the ending. Ugh.
Most Sexy and Best Sexy Moment:
Well, that'll have to be Why Kenji Hates Mamoru and All Teenage Boys yet again, since it's really the only vaguely sexy story on the list.
Hardest to Write
The ending of Just Dessert. The beginning came to me pretty easily, but it literally took months for me to decide how I wanted to end things.
Most Unintentionally Telling
None, really.

on 2009-01-01 08:20 pm (UTC)Yes, Yes, YES! Chibiusa, Helios, and Perle (poor Perle) can't be left like that. I finally finished watching Kaleido Star, so I'm looking forward to your fic for that as well.
