Man, I love bargain hunting at Amazon Marketplace. I finally decided to use up my last Visa gift card and bought myself a ton of CLAMP, because I have apparently decided that I need to own ALL their licensed works. (Except for X. I won't be buying that until they start working on it again. And Man of Many Faces, because Vol. 2 is ridiculously expensive.) I blame it on the Southside Artbook I bought a few weeks ago. After seeing all those gorgeous pictures, I need more of the pretty.

Anyway, I ordered the Northside Artbook, Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, both volumes of Duklyon Clamp School Defenders, all three volumes of Clamp School Detectives, and the first four of the five volumes of Angelic Layer. (I ran out of money on the card before I could get the last one.) My one non-CLAMP purchase was the Vol. 5 disc of Hare + Guu that I needed to finish the main series. Paid close to retail for it, but it was the cheapest available, and I didn't want to risk the possibility of never getting it. Besides, I got such a good deal on everything else that I didn't really mind paying a little extra for it.

Now I just need to get that last volume of Angelic Layer, finish up xxxHolic (which I hear is about to end soon), collect Tokyo Babylon and RG Veda, and start on Kobato., and my collection will be complete!

Yeah... I may be a little insane.

To collect all of CLAMP is a major achievement! You ought to post a pic of your CLAMP shelf when all is said and done. :-) And, yes, xxx-Holic will be ending soon, since Tsubasa recently concluded. But I do not think they will be picking up X/1999 again, sadly.

Heh, I sold most of my CLAMP manga on ebay a few years ago. All I kept were CCS, Chobits, and art books. I don't think I made any money--my starting asking price was about half cover price--but my intention was more to get the stuff out of my house. Maybe I should have held onto them a couple more years and really cleaned up.

If the books are in mint condition, you can get pretty decent money for them, but the Man of Many Faces volume I mentioned seems to be the most collectible. There was one used copy for sale for $20, but the rest were going in the $35 to $200 range, with new copies starting at $75 minimum. It's kind of crazy.

Luckily, I don't care much about condition, so I just paid a few dollars each on the ones I ordered. In some cases, the shipping was more than what I paid for the book.

Wow, I think I'll hold onto my manga for a while from now on if even the really crap ones are going for $75. I think I sold that one for five bucks. Maybe I'll scout my used bookstore this weekend and see if there's anything I can turn into a profit. They had a ton of CLAMP last time I was in there.



(Oh, I see it recently went for $5 on ebay anyway, so never mind.)
