Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

That's a tough question to answer. I guess I would have to say I wrote more than I predicted, since my only real goal for the year was to finish the rough draft of Against the Rules, which I did, but I also wrote a few shorts and a 50,000 word Nano novel.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2006?

Definitely Fire Emblem. I never in a hundred years thought I would ever write a video game fic, but after playing the game and falling in love with the Artur/Lute pairing, I couldn't resist writing a fic as a surprise anniversary gift for my boyfriend, who loves Fire Emblem.

What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?

I don't really know why, but I have to say my Fruits Basket fic, Kiss Me. It's just so cute and romantic, and I really think I did a good job with Mayu's character.

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?

I think I took two big risks in 2006. One was participating in Nanowrimo for the first time and concentrating on a piece of original fiction. The resulting story, Mothers of the Bride, was not good, but it did teach me that I can write more than a couple of pages a day if I put my mind to it. The second risk was writing quite a bit of non-Sailor Moon fics. I wrote fics for Fire Emblem, Fruits Basket, and Someday's Dreamers, and those allowed me to try some different things with different characters.

Do you have any fanfic goals for the New Year?

Well, finishing posting Against the Rules is a definite goal, but that shouldn't be hard, considering the story is basically done. Just need to have my editors look over the last half.

As for new writing projects for the new year, I'm still really in the planning phase. I am starting a Kaleido Star short today, but that's the only thing set in stone so far. Among the possibilities for my next multi-part, however, are a Witch Hunter Robin/Sailor Moon crossover and another Kaleido Star story.

From my past year of writing, what was...

My Favorite Story:

As I said before, Kiss Me.

My Best Story:

I want to say Against the Rules, but to be honest, there's quite a bit I don't like about it, so I guess I'll go with Kiss Me again, since I think that's the story I was most happy with.

Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe:

Definitely my Someday's Dreamers fic, A Dream Come True, for the sole reason that nobody reads Someday's Dreamers fics.

Most Fun:

Kiss Me? Eh, I don't think any of my stories in 2006 were particularly fun.

Most Disappointing:

I would have to say Mothers of the Bride, my Nano story. I had such high hopes for it, but it ended up pretty crappy, probably since the nature of the contest was to focus more on quantity, rather than quality.

Most Sexy:
Against the Rules, without a doubt. In fact, I'm surprised myself by how sexy it is, since I don't usually write like that. It definitely earns its R rating, though.

Story with a Single Sexy Moment:

A story with only one sexy moment? That would be Kiss Me. Mayu and Hatori just kiss, but I still think it is pretty sexy.

Hardest to Write:

Against the Rules, at least parts of it. My own fault, really, since I wrote most of it completely out of order. If I had stayed more linear, it probably wouldn't have been so bad.

Most Unintentionally Telling:

Unintenionally telling? Hmm... I guess I would have to go with Against the Rules, but I'm not telling why. *laughs*

Oh, I most certainly do love Fire Emblem. :-)

I'll have to make a note to myself to do this meme when I have a little more time.
